Meet Mike Manfre of Evolve Culture

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mike Manfre.

Hi Mike, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My name is Mike Manfre, I am from Taylorsville, Utah. I’m 38 years old with a fiancé and a three-year-old daughter.

Growing up my family didn’t have a lot of money. My parents did the best they could raising me and my two siblings. Watching my parents struggle financially when I was a child and into my teens, made me realize I did not want that same lifestyle as an adult.

In high school, I played sports while also working part-time. Many of my friends in high school did not work, but in a weird way I wanted my own money and it taught me how to manage a bank account. After high school, I decided to become a personal trainer, being fit and active was extremely important to me. The money was not very good as a trainer so I decided to apply to the sheriff’s office because they paid much more than what I was making as a personal trainer.

When I was 22 years old in 2006, I got hired on by the Salt Lake County Sheriff’s office. I was put through a rigorous four-month police academy. It made me grow up really fast having a badge at a young age. You are placed under a telescope and held to a higher standard.

After a few years, I began to notice I was becoming more of a negative person than before I got into the career of law enforcement. I was looking for something new, I wanted a way out of what I was currently doing which was not only making me unhappy, I was, unfortunately, making very little money in my law enforcement career.

The year was 2011, me and my girlfriend at the time we were going to a movie. I went to buy our movie tickets, and my debit card got declined. I was extremely embarrassed and extremely depressed that I couldn’t even buy a $10 movie ticket to take my girlfriend out on a date.

That night was the defining moment that made me realize I needed to change the trajectory of my life. I was not going to struggle financially for the rest of my life as I have seen my parents struggle my entire childhood.

At that same time, I was wanting to compete in a bodybuilding competition, a buddy of mine told me to go see a nutritionist who would tell me exactly what to eat so I could get ready for this bodybuilding show.

October 2011 is when I met my mentor who changed my life. When I sat down with my mentor while hearing him speak about proper nutrition and how he could help me achieve my goals, I realized this is what I wanted to do, help people change their lives and reach their goals through nutrition.

I told my mentor that I wanted to do what he does and I’ll do whatever it takes to have him be my mentor and show me how to speak with clients how to learn about the right type of nutrition how to build a clientele to the level that he was at. Now at the time, I was making $14 an hour at the sheriff’s office, and my mentor was making $14,000 per month. That amount of money was unfathomable how somebody could make that much money doing what they love plus getting to help others.

So he hired me, showed me what to do, and after a few years fast forward to 2013, after about a year and a half I’ve basically worked two jobs, one with the sheriff’s office and also part-time as a nutrition consultant, I finally made enough money per month to leave the sheriffs office and follow my true passion.

I was completely content making the same amount of money as I did in law enforcement (which wasn’t that much) to help people reach their goals as a nutritionist.

Fast forward to 2015 I decided I was making a decent amount of money to start up my own business and leave the comfort of working with my mentor. In October 2015, I opened up my own nutrition consulting business called Mike Manfre fitness.

What a scary time it was, I opened up a new business plus I was getting ready to compete in a bodybuilding competition in Miami Florida. You could say stress levels were high and there was a lot on my plate. I told myself I was not going to fail and go back to my mentor’s office, it was either succeed as my own boss or be forever unhappy and poor.

One year later in 2016 I doubled my income from the previous two years which was pretty amazing that I did it on my own with no one’s help but my hard work and grind to ensure the success of my new company with my name on the door.

In 2017, 2018, and 2019 I increased my yearly income each year, bringing on more clientele while helping more and more people change their lives.

I decided in 2019 to hire a business coach. I was building up my capital I was making multiple six figures per year, so I decided to see how I could even increase my income to the next level and how I could stack on more clients because I knew I could help so many more people.

My business coach informed me I should change my entire company name. I was not happy because I spent four years building up a brand that I created and that people in my area knew. Long story short I decided I hired a coach for a reason, so I took his advice and I came up with a new name after a lot of research.

Evolve Culture was born as my new nutrition consulting business name. Re-branding my name plus also changing my logo colors has helped my business triple in sales in 2 years.

2021 was the best year financially of my entrepreneurship career. 2021 I was blessed with getting the opportunity to help over 350 people reach their goals, change their eating habits, change physically but more importantly change mentally.

Becoming An entrepreneur and taking the risks that many people told me NOT to take, Has provided me with meeting amazing people along the way while also making life-changing money doing what I love.

I’m now dedicated to helping new nutrition coaches quit their 9-5 jobs and leave the comfort of a W2 job and follow their passion and become an entrepreneur. I’ve helped many coaches do just that and make amazing careers as fitness professionals.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The obstacles were tremendous every time I would leave my comfort zone and begin something new.

The first obstacle was leaving the nutrition consulting company that helped me get my start in the business. But it was necessary for growth.

The next obstacle came when I had to rebrand my business name and throw away everything I worked on for the last 4 years and start another name and rebrand my logo and company.

All of those obstacles only made me better in the long run. Obstacles are necessary for true success.
