Meet Painted Temple of Painted Temple Tattoo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Painted Temple.

Hi Painted, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Painted Temple Tattoo was founded in 2005 by Oak and Bleu Adams in Provo, Utah. From the beginning, their vision was clear: to elevate tattooing as a legitimate art form by focusing on large-scale, custom work and to help destigmatize the craft by bringing a high level of professionalism and artistry to the industry.

Over the years, Painted Temple has taken many shapes, from big shops to smaller, more intimate spaces, but that original vision has always stayed the same. Today, we’re proud to continue that legacy in our cozy North Orem studio, where we keep the focus on quality, creativity, and a deeply personal experience for each client.

It’s been a journey of growth, adaptation, and staying true to the art and we’re excited for what’s ahead.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Like most small businesses, it definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth ride. One of the biggest challenges over the years has been the economy; especially during downturns when tattoos can shift from a priority to a luxury for a lot of people.

There have been moments where we’ve had to scale back, relocate, or rethink how we operate just to stay sustainable. But those tough times also taught us how to be adaptable, and really focus on what matters: creating meaningful art and building lasting relationships with our clients.

In the end, every struggle has pushed us to grow in ways we might not have otherwise.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Painted Temple Tattoo is a custom tattoo studio rooted in the belief that tattooing is a deeply personal and powerful form of art. We specialize in large-scale, custom work. Pieces that are thoughtfully designed in collaboration with our clients and tailored to their bodies, stories, and vision.

What really sets us apart is our focus on artistry and professionalism. From the beginning, our goal has been to create an environment where tattoos are respected as fine art, and where clients feel safe, heard, and supported throughout the process. Every tattoo we create is original and approached with care, intention, and technical excellence.

We’re most proud of the reputation we’ve built over the years: not just for high-quality work, but for fostering a space that’s welcoming, respectful, and creative. Our studio is small by design, it allows us to stay focused, intentional, and connected to the people we work with.

At Painted Temple, you’re not just getting a tattoo; you’re working with artists who care about your story and want to help you express it in a way that lasts a lifetime.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
That you’re never done learning. No matter how long you’ve been in the industry, there’s always room to grow; as an artist, as a business, and as a person. The moment you think you’ve figured it all out is usually when you stop evolving.

Staying open to new ideas, techniques, feedback, and perspectives has been key to our growth and it’s what keeps the work exciting and meaningful.
