Meet Quyen Pham of Sisters

Today we’d like to introduce you to Quyen Pham

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Hello, my name is Quyen Pham, and I’m the founder of Sisters.

Growing up, most of my memories were centered around time spent in the kitchen with my mom. I was captivated by the stories of my parents’ journey and hardships from Vietnam, which inspired a deep appreciation for my Vietnamese culture. I express this appreciation through cooking.

For about three years, the idea for my small business lived only in my mind until it finally came to life in September 2024. At that time, I was feeling homesick and disconnected, so with just a few clicks, I launched an Instagram page, and Sisters was born. The name “Sisters” is a tribute to my mom and her sisters, who taught me all the secrets of the kitchen. Our annual family reunions were always centered around food and karaoke—though, for those who know me, I avoid singing in public, so I stayed busy in the kitchen to avoid the embarrassment.

Through Sisters, I’ve been able to connect with so many amazing people who share similar interests and build my own community. My first product was simply eggrolls, because who doesn’t love a crispy, golden eggroll? But that didn’t last long—thanks to growing demand and interest, I expanded the menu to include spring rolls and savory puff pastries.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Smooth roads are boring—I thrive on the bumpy, winding paths! My first big challenge was overcoming my shyness and social anxiety. I knew that, eventually, I’d have to put myself out there and talk to strangers. As an introvert, this felt like a huge obstacle, but the support from my friends and family helped me grow.

At first, whenever someone picked up an order, it felt like an awkward Facebook Marketplace transaction. That’s when I decided to start doing market pop-ups—so I could meet people, make connections, and push myself beyond my comfort zone.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I’m first and foremost a registered nurse, with 10 years of experience in the field. I spent 8 years working as an ER nurse before transitioning to a desk job. While that shift gave me the balance I needed, I still craved the adrenaline of fast-paced environments. I thrive in chaos and stress, which is where Sisters comes in—it fulfills that need.

My vision for Sisters centers around Vietnamese snack foods that are perfect for sharing with friends and family. My menu currently features egg rolls, spring rolls, pâté chaud, and homemade sauces, with both vegetarian and gluten-free options available. What sets my brand apart is my commitment to avoiding seed oils and offering alternatives for individuals with allergies or dietary restrictions. My goal is simple: to share the Vietnamese foods I grew up with and introduce them to the community.

What makes you happy?
Lately, I’ve realized that providing comfort to others through food brings me a daily dose of happiness. It’s clear that my love language is acts of service, especially when it comes to cooking for others. The best part of my day is receiving messages about how much people enjoyed my food or how it tasted just like what their mom or grandmother used to make. Cooking Vietnamese food is deeply nostalgic for me, and it brings me so much joy to know that others can share in that same feeling.
