Meet Ramona Parker

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ramona Parker.

Hi Ramona, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
My husband and I started as Krav Maga instructors at an AMAZING gym (Fortified Krav Maga). We share a deep passion for helping women build self-esteem and find their voices but felt we lacked the ability to reach as many women as we wanted to.

That led us to begin these seminars that we can take anywhere to anyone. While we mostly host them at our home gym, we are willing to travel near and far to give women the ability to embrace the warrior within.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
One of the biggest struggles we have faced is changing the mindset around self-defense. Most seminars are male-focused/martial arts based.

This is problematic because women may learn physical safety skills, but they don’t embrace the mindset it takes to actually use those skills if worse comes to worst. We have navigated tough roads to figure out exactly how to teach women more than just physical safety skills and embrace a full mindset shift.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a Mom of four. After delivering my first daughter, I had paranoia that most Moms do with worst-case scenarios going through my head. This lead me to find Fortified Krav Maga and learn what it would take to defend myself and my new baby.

It was a tough 3 years of training before I decided that I wanted to give other moms and women this same sense of empowerment and esteem that I had received and put in the work to become a certified instructor.

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Don’t be afraid to use your voice. Boundaries and safety are more important than someone else’s ego.
