Today we’d like to introduce you to Robert Díaz.
Hi Robert, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started writing songs at the age of 15, it all started with a melody that popped in my head, and the lyrics came by themselves. I’m a person that has always been guided by inspiration, love, heartbreaks, crushes, or muses that have changed my life in a certain type of way, I’m always seeking to inspire and touch many people’s emotions and feelings with my lyrics. At this time, I’ve currently written songs in many genres such as ballads, pop, vallenatos and banda. I’ve won for 3 consecutive years the award of the best original song in Guadalajara’s Song Festival and recorded my first EP back in 2018 called “Dame tu boca” directed by one of the best singer-songwriters in Mexico Edgar Oceransky, and produced by the one of the kind sound engineer director Adrian Noroña. I’m currently recording my first 9 song album at Antarrec Studios, and sending songs to record labels that are being selected by international artists for their future recordings. Next year we’ll be releasing my new album along with new music videos, and we’re really excited to announce a new tour that’ll go all around 12 cities in Mexico and many parts of the United States.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
One of the toughest things along the road has been dedicating time to my music. I’m always writing, that’s inevitable, but I’m talking more in a professional way, there’s always something that gets in the way like a job or a “decent career” but I’m always following the advice that a close friend gave me, and that is: “until your passion becomes your career, you need a career to feed your passion.” Albums cost a lot of money, but they’re worth every single penny.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a singer-songwriter, known for writing ballads and bringing romanticism back to life. I’m proud of what I’ve accomplished and the projects I’m working on. Something that sets me apart from others is my ability to describe in detail how I feel, and that seems to move people emotionally when they listen to my songs.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
Definitely going to concerts as a kid mainly the ones from Luis Miguel. I’ve been really fortunate to have parents that support me in every step of the way and thanks to them, I’ve been able to not only follow their taste in music but to write new songs and work with most of their favorite artists that are a huge influence in what I do.
