Today we’d like to introduce you to Shaun Christensen.
Hi Shaun, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Shaun started studying psychology at Dixie High School in St. George. His goal was to become a psychologist, However one day a guest speaker that was a hypnotist came in to give a presentation and said that you can cut therapy into 1/3 the time because you get to the root of the problem, and that day everything switch. he decided to become a Hypnotherapist.
in 2003 Shaun Became certified through the National guild of hypnotists as a certified hypnotherapist. in 2014 he become certified in forensics hypnosis and also became an instructor for the guild. He now owns a Hypnosis School in Payson, Utah where he can certify others in hypnosis.
Back in 2004 he decided to try his hand at comedy hypnosis stage shows, the first year he did 2 shows, the next year 4 and the next 8, kept growing the shows until last year he did 105 shows he is one of the top performing comedy stage hypnotists in the country traveling all across the USA. His shows are very unique because in the beginning he explains hypnotism, gets volunteers, does a lot of fun things to demo hypnosis and at the end of his show he empowers the volunteers. if you have not seen his show, you are missing out.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It took him 10 years to go full time, and then it was all really good until the pandemic of 2020. no one was performing and he went from 82 shows the year before to 17 the year of covid. however, he is the only hypnotist around that continued to market himself, so when the world opened back up to entertainment, he wen from 17 show to 102 shows the next year. other hypnotists either quit, or moved or got full time jobs and Shaun (the hypno hick) went all in with his talent taking it nation wide.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Shauns unique empowering hypnosis show sets him a part from other hypnotists. the others want to keep hypnosis mysterious and almost magic like and the world wants open and honesty. His shows are also very clean and its something you could bring your grandma to and have fun.
Shauns hypnosis practice is very unique as well, he specializes in “Sports Hypnosis” where he helps athletes overcome their mental blocks, creating focus and concentration, helping them with performance anxiety, and teaching them self hypnosis so they can become peak performers, he has worked with top notch athletes all the way down to jr high students. anything from wrestling, gymnastics, rodeo athletes, bodybuilders, football players. etc.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
success to shaun is when he gets an email from a client that says. “you changed my sons life” or after a show a parent comes up and says “I have never seen my daughter so outgoing on stage, she is normally an introvert”
that feeling is something that money cant buy.
