Meet Sheralyn Bennett

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sheralyn Bennett.

Sheralyn, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My husband & I were always pretty interested in real estate & investing. We went to a seminar about real estate investing, where we got convinced into putting I think $20k into an investment, which ended up being a bust.

But after that, I decided to start on my real estate licensing classes. We both were working at APX Alarm, and during the economic downturn, I actually got laid off! That ended up being a great blessing for us however, I was forced into jumping into real estate full time, which can be scary for sure. But I have been doing it full time now since 2009 & it has been a really great move for me.

I convinced my husband to get his license too & come & help me a few years later, so now we work together as a team.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Definitely not a smooth road. Real estate is something where you can do really great or really awful. I started working in new construction, which taught me a lot & helped me learn how to handle a lot of transactions at once. I also had braces when I first started, so getting people to take me seriously even though I was young was a bit of a hurdle.

But I think it also helped me to work harder to prove myself.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Since I have worked for builders, we do a lot of new construction deals. We have multiple clients building new homes right now with different builders. I love the process of home building & interior design, so it is one of my favorite things to do. I am proud that I can work with my husband every day & still like each other, I understand how it may not work for some people.

We are really fun to work with I think & we are very straightforward with our clients so they know what to expect. We have done remodels as well, which is super fun. I love taking something not so nice & making it beautiful!

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Communication & responsiveness for sure. Buying & selling a home is a stressful & big decision, so we strive to treat our clients’ deals like our own.
