Today we’d like to introduce you to Stella Standingbear.
Hi Stella, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started doing music at young age. I recorded my first song at 14 and started performing 15.I’ve been doing it ever since. I have always loved music and knew this is what I wanted to do. It took a lot of work to get here… alot of falls and learning lessons. I have always looked for ways to get better and do it with a passion.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No it has not been a smooth road. There’s been potholes, detours, flat tires, and road blockages. But I learned to adapt and continue moving forward. I also understand there’s multiples routes to get where I am going.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m an award-winning, touring Artist. I make music and travel across North America. I am known for my music, my social media, and my impact. I am most proud of my On the Radar Performance, an MTV Placement, Apple Music Partnership, and Award-winning music video filmed on my reservation, Pine Ridge SD. What sets me apart is that.. I am an indigenous-female musician, and most of the things I am doing is for the first and I am making history while doing it.
