Today we’d like to introduce you to Ben Moa and Nate Tuatagaloa.
Hi Ben and Nate, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Tip Top has always been something Nate and I wanted to do. Nate and I grew up in unstable environments. Luckily, we had an uncle and aunt that took us in when we were both in high school. We both attended Ogden High and excelled in athletics. I was able to use football to take me to college at the University of Utah, earn a degree and go on to play in the NFL.
Nate also used athletics to play collegiate football and become the strength and conditioning coach at Utah Valley University. Tip Top was created because there was a void in top-notch training in the Ogden area. We wanted to give back to the community we lived in and decided to open Tip Top here 7 years ago.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
For me, the road to where I am now has been tough. But I blame most of that on my personal choices. As far as working hard to build Tip Top, that just took time.
We knew Tip Top would be successful, we just needed others to see the benefit of it. The building we are in now is our 3rd building because we are rapidly outgrowing the others. Nate and I both also coach at local high schools in Weber County, so we feel strongly about helping the youth in our community become great!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Tip Top provides athletic services, and all classes are specialized in helping athletes become more efficient in moving their bodies using various techniques and movement strategies. We have a heavy focus on linear straight-line sprinting, drive phase, strength training multi-directional movements, and footwork. Our program has helped many kids gain confidence in themselves, at school, as well as in sports.
We have assisted many athletes in various collegiate sports. We also offer our athletes the opportunity to participate in competitive 7v7 travel football tournaments which are held in the spring. Not only do I own/train at Tip Top, but I am also a Realtor. I think Tip Top is most known for helping athletes become better. I am most proud of the athletes that have continued through our program even when it seemed hard. We believe Tip Top is set apart from others because we are one of the only indoor facilities in Weber County that offers 45 yards of indoor turf and access to a 1200sq. ft. mezzanine. The mezzanine holds our free weights and 3 full weight racks and 3 half racks overlooking the turf.
With our own facility, we can hold classes consistently at the same time and day every week throughout the year. Our facility is fully netted for indoor baseball or softball training sessions during the winter months. Also, my personal experience and knowledge of athletics from being a former collegiate and NFL football player and Professional MMA fighter. As well as Nate’s athletic experience and extensive knowledge of weight training and programming.
So maybe we end by discussing what matters most to you and why.
Tip Top’s focus is on teaching and training kids in athletics and gaining confidence in life. We feel it is most important to provide a safe place where kids feel accepted by their peers, we want to help them reach their goals, and provide a place where they are around other like-minded kids.
