Today we’d like to introduce you to Traci Edwards.
Hi Traci, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My journey in photography started when I was in middle school with a film camera. From there I went to college for photography, took my first job in Texas with photography, and then to South Florida. I went on a trip in 2017 to Iceland in the Winter. I photographed my first elopement there. I wasn’t a part of anything other than showing up and capturing the ceremony. For me, it was enough to hook me. I came back to the states, quit my job, and moved to the Southwest. I figured elopements were already big in Colorado, California, and Washington so it would be easier to get the business going here and I loved exploring the desert. Since then we have photographed well over 100 elopements, we have shot in 7 different states and outside of the US.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I feel like owning a business and operating a business is never a smooth road. There are always things you have to overcome and navigate. I think what makes a business succeed or fail is how passionate you are about it and how determined you are to make it happen. It takes commitment times one hundred.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I own and co-operate with my husband, Adventure and Vow. We are adventure elopement photographers, logistic wranglers, day-dreamers, hype men, and officiants. Our life is based around the next adventure for work + for play.
We often get asked on potential client calls, by peers and by ourselves: How are we different? What really sets us apart from the masses? I think it’s a two-fold answer:
1. Our mentality in how we treat other people. From the second we virtually meet you we are friends and from the second we meet you in person we are family. We treat any couples wedding day as if these are people we have known for years and we are a part of the family. We treat it how we would want anyone else to treat us on our wedding day. It goes beyond just your wedding day though. We work hard and purposefully to get to know our couples, to understand them and why they chose this type of wedding. We want to capture their story, not how we see it or want them to feel. We help whenever and where ever can on the day of or prior. Oftentimes in life, people say it takes a village. We are the village for our couples.
2. Secondly, is our passion. We believe in marriage – a marriage that is deep and lasts. We believe in eloping as the best way to get married. We are passionate about educating people about elopements, about crafting experiences that are authentic and connective to a couple and how they want their marriage to be. We are passionate about helping couples feel confident in walking away from traditions and into what may be their own.
