Today we’d like to introduce you to Tremayne Davis.
Hi Tremayne, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
Well, I’m originally from a small town in Illinois called Hopkins Park. I’ve lived here in Utah for about ten years now.
It’s definitely been a roller coaster, to say the least. But I have met some amazing friends, started my modeling career, and met my love! So Utah has come through so times.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
As I was saying before, it’s definitely been a roller coaster. One of the biggest things was coming from the Midwest where I was born and raised for 17 years to live in a completely different state was rough for a bit.
I grew up around the majority of folks who look like me and I never felt singled out (at least not for being black).
Here in Utah, I get the stares, the backhanded compliments, and the “Can I touch your skin?” Often times I’d find myself feeling more like some kind of zoo animal for people to gawp at, rather than a person.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
So I am a freelance model. I have been modeling for about 4/4.5 years now. I was discovered by a good friend of mine Darlene Frazier (Darbie) in a gay bar here in Salt Lake City called Sun Trapp. At the time I had no idea how much I’d grow and how many amazing projects I’d get to work on.
I specialize in FASHION and BEAUTY! I’m proud of so many of my accomplishments, I got to do a music video for the band “I Don’t Know How But They Found Me” racking up over a million views on YouTube.
I also got to do one of my first interviews ever for a “Poppin Magazine” for their pride collection, as well as experience NYFW thanks to Darbie. It’s been a heck of a ride.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
Believe in yourself. I’ve wanted to model for so long but never thought I had the body, or the jawline, etc. But today, not only do I get to be creative and do what I love but people actually pay me for this face. Lol.
