Today we’d like to introduce you to Tyler Huxford.
Hi Tyler, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I grew up in Elkhart, IN. Graduated, and played baseball at a military school Junior College called New Mexico Military Institute in preparation to go to the Air Force Academy. Instead of attending the Air Force Academy, I actually chose to serve a mission for LDS Church Instead.
I served a two-year mission in Brazil where I learned Portuguese and developed my love for other languages. I quickly started studying Spanish and participated in all kinds of Latin dancing activies where I eventually met my wife, who is Mexican 🙂 Kind of just worked out.
In school, studied Business Strategy at BYU where I played Rugby, and we ended up winning 2 NCAA Division 1 National Championships. As good as we were, Rugby did not pay for school, so I was hired to do door-to-door sales in Sacramento, Atlanta, Baltimore, and DC to pay for school.
I also volunteered wherever I could. I found the Best Buddies program to be my favorite cause to support and made a really great friend in my buddy Dustin, who has down syndrome. Dustin later became my best man at my wedding, that was cool. His whole family means a lot to me now.
Through Door to Door Sales, I determined I actually really enjoyed sales and had a bit of the natural sales gene, so I decided to take a job as an SDR at Qualtrics where I’ve now worked up to enterprise sales as an account executive.
I’ve taken the money I’ve earned from door-to-door sales and enterprise sales and invested into stocks and real estate, with real estate being my biggest venture. Currently own several long-term rentals and short-term stays such as AirB&B units.
I married the love of my life, Yesenia in March of 2020 🙂
I recently started a YouTube channel just to highlight the journey, to jump-start self-made hustlers, and to highlight my family a little 🙂
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I think me being my first family member to take on some of these new things: Studying across the country, investing in real estate, working in tech, etc. has meant a lot of trial and error for me.
I had to learn to become self-made very quickly, like from the time I was 14 to definitely when I was 23 and knocking doors.
Other than that, I’ve really only seen the challenges as lessons and opportunities 🙂
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I work enterprise sales for Qualtrics and sell a B2B Software for Experience Management.
I do everything from selling to prospects who haven’t heard of us, to working with clients to maximize their existing licenses with us and expanding our business and relations with them.
I’ve won several recognitions like being a presidents club qualifier, building the most pipeline in my company, and selling to the most new logos.
What I do is great, and it’s earned me comfortable income. But I get to then invest into what I’m passionate about, which is real estate.
While new, my YouTube channel and a lot of my social media is highlighting the lessons I learned from experiences such as purchasing rental properties on my own in new markets, renting to new tenants, and opening nightly rentals.
I’ve really enjoyed sharing my experience in hope it will help people who hustle and are self-made like a young me.
Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
Being player of the game my very first Varsity Football game as a 15-year-old.
I know this is lame bro stuff haha but honestly, that started a chain of events which really built my confidence in areas other than sports. Really glad it happened.
