Today we’d like to introduce you to Tyson Hamilton.
Hi Tyson, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My entrepreneurial journey truly began in 2014, following a pivotal turning point in my life. I had lost my position as a mine supervisor at Kennecott due to a poor personal decision. While devastating at the time, this hardship became the catalyst for profound personal growth. It led me to embrace sobriety and ultimately re-evaluate my entire career trajectory. In November of that year, I began managing e-commerce sales for my mother’s business, Capital City Antique Mall, listing vintage items and antiques on eBay.
As I weighed whether to return to the mining industry or pivot completely, my growing inventory made the decision for me. When my house, garage, and a trailer were overflowing with stock, it was clear I needed a dedicated space. In April 2015, I took the leap and opened a storefront in Tooele called Another Man’s Treasures. From the moment we opened our doors, the community rallied behind us with incredible support.
Early on as a business owner, I was given invaluable advice: if I wanted to facilitate positive change, I needed to get actively involved. I took that to heart. I joined the Chamber of Commerce, eventually serving on the Board of Directors for six years, where I held the roles of Second Vice Chair, Vice Chair, and ultimately Chairman. In 2018, I was appointed to the Tooele City Planning Commission—where I still serve and have been Chairman multiple times—and was later appointed to the Tooele County Economic Opportunity Board. I also stepped up to resurrect the Tooele Downtown Alliance, successfully transitioning it into a formalized non-profit organization to drive destination development and support local business and property owners. I have proudly served as the Director of the Alliance for the past four years.
My commitment to advocacy also deeply extends to my 23-year involvement with Bikers Against Child Abuse (BACA). I currently serve as the Utah State President and Region 2 Representative, while also assisting with public relations and agency liaison work across multiple regions.
Alongside my civic and non-profit work, I have continued to invest in my professional growth. I returned to school to finish my degree, earning my Bachelor’s in Business Administration in 2019. Recently, my business portfolio has expanded as well; I took over 49% ownership of Capital City Antique Mall, and in October 2025, we launched Three Ink, a custom clothing and print company providing swag, uniforms, and DTF work. Looking back, what started as a moment of profound personal adversity has transformed into a deeply rewarding life built on entrepreneurship, civic leadership, and community service.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The journey has certainly not been a smooth road, but navigating those obstacles is part of what makes it so rewarding.
One of the most persistent daily challenges I face is marketing. Although Tooele is just 30 miles from Salt Lake City, the demographics and consumer behaviors are vastly different. Learning how to effectively reach and engage our specific local community, rather than relying on broader regional strategies, requires constant adaptation and a deep understanding of our unique market.
Additionally, managing my time and energy has tested my limits. Running a small business is demanding in itself, but carrying those responsibilities while attending school full-time to finish my degree required immense discipline. Beyond that, there is the inherent, everyday stress of entrepreneurship—the constant pressure to make ends meet and the weight of keeping the “American Dream” alive.
None of this has been easy, but overcoming these challenges and seeing the positive impact in my community has made every success deeply fulfilling.
As you know, we’re big fans of Another Man’s Treasures, Capital City Antique Mall, Tooele Downtown Alliance, and Three Ink. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
My professional portfolio spans retail, custom apparel, and community development, encompassing four distinct entities united by a commitment to preserving history, supporting local growth, and fostering meaningful connections.Vintage and AntiquesI operate two distinct antique ventures. Another Man’s Treasures is a family-owned storefront in Tooele specializing in vintage and antique furniture, militaria, jewelry, and nostalgic collectibles. We are known for our deep appreciation of the history behind our items; we actively research the stories of our pieces so customers leave with something truly meaningful. Additionally, I hold a 49% ownership stake in Capital City Antique Mall in Salt Lake City. As the largest antique mall in Utah, it features over 10,000 square feet of eclectic vintage goods across more than 65 dealer booths.Custom ApparelIn October 2025, we launched Three Ink, a custom Direct-to-Film (DTF) printing and apparel company. We specialize in high-quality, vivid prints for swag, uniforms, and custom gear. What sets Three Ink apart is our ability to accommodate fast turnarounds and low minimums, making professional-quality garments highly accessible to small businesses, non-profits, and advocacy groups looking to amplify their message.Community DevelopmentOn the non-profit side, I serve as the Director of the Tooele Downtown Alliance. Our organization is dedicated to revitalizing Tooele’s Downtown and Broadway districts. We actively support local business and property owners to transform our city center into a vibrant destination for shopping, dining, and community engagement.Brand Pride and DifferentiationWhat truly differentiates my work across all these channels is a deep, active integration into the community. We are not just conducting business; we are investing in the economic and cultural health of our region through civic leadership and advocacy. Brand-wise, I am most proud of our authenticity and resilience. Whether we are matching a customer with a century-old piece of hand-carved furniture, printing awareness apparel for a charity, or advocating for downtown property owners, our focus remains on exceptional, personalized service. I want readers to know that engaging with any of our brands means supporting local entrepreneurship that continually gives back to the people and the city we call home.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most profound lesson I’ve learned is the absolute necessity of resilience: no matter how hard life hits, you must get back up and keep moving forward.
Through my journey, I’ve realized that everyone is fighting their own unseen battles. While our specific challenges may look different, we are all navigating the pressures of this world, and leading with empathy and kindness makes a tremendous difference.
However, I’ve also learned that compassion must be paired with firm boundaries. Sustainable success requires genuine downtime and a clear division between your professional and personal life. You cannot let work consume your home life every day, nor should you let personal issues dictate your workplace environment. Finding that balance is critical.
Finally, when facing turmoil or conflict, I have learned the value of absolute accountability. True leadership means that before pointing a finger at someone else, you must first look in the mirror and ask, “What could I have done better?”
