Meet Zoë Bailey of Zoe Does Nails

Today we’d like to introduce you to Zoë Bailey

Hi Zoë, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started my Nail Technician Journey in March of 2020 at Ogden weber technical college. It was a rough start being at the beginning of the pandemic, we first started wearing masks but eventually they canceled school for the entire month of April. In may, they had us do Zoom calls and bring our supplies home. It was hard not having the teachers right there to guide us. They did open the school again, and I was able to finish and get my license. After graduation I did have a 3 year period where I did not work as a nail tech, the pandemic really discouraged me with not being able to meet in person and there is no way to be a nail tech over Zoom. Last year, in 2023 I decided I wanted to do more then just work a job to get by. So I started relearning by taking a Light Elegance bachelors course tought by Melanie Bosch and I asked her if she had any openings at her salon. She did and I have been working there part time ever since. Having Melanie right there to guide me through this has helped greatly and I have improved significantly.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There have definitely been some struggle. The pandemic being a big one at the beinging.I have struggled with social anxiety all my life so learning to navigate socializing with clients and even getting clients in my chair has been a journey all on its own.
