Today we’d like to introduce you to Aleah Jones.
Hi Aleah, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
I have always loved photography, even from a young age! When I was 12, my aunt married a professional photographer and I was hooked.
I followed her around everywhere and she taught me little bits and pieces about how to take pictures and how to use her camera. Eventually, she helped me pick out a camera of my own to buy and that’s when Aleah Jones Photography was born!
In my freshman year of high school, I started doing sessions for other people, but my business didn’t really take off until I started using presets and put more effort into it.
During the pandemic, I was able to make my business into everything I wanted it to be!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Definitely not! I have faced so many obstacles. Running a business as a high schooler is hard!
I didn’t always have my car & traveling to sessions was not really something I was available to do. I also sometimes felt self-conscious running a business and posting on social media where my colleagues could see!
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I specialize in photography of all types! I’m probably most known in my community for a large number of senior photos I shoot because I sure do love my seniors!! I also love to shoot family sessions as well as bridals and engagements.
I’m most proud of the work and time and energy I’ve put into developing my presets and learning when to use them on images. Editing is a time-consuming project, but I really enjoy it – you kinda have to when you do this job! I feel like something that sets me apart from others is my personality and the environment of my sessions!
If you’ve ever done a session with me, you know I literally talk your ear off during the session! I love creating an environment of comfort and also an ability to be vulnerable. You are your own unique beauty and it’s our goal to capture that, not what other people perceive or think you should be.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I definitely think there’s a little luck that brought me my business, but mostly hard work. If you work hard and grow and change, you can make pretty much anything work.
