Today we’d like to introduce you to Amberly Lambertsen
Hi Amberly, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I have lived most of my life in Davis County, Utah. I finished elementary, junior high, and high school in Davis County, and moved back after college to start my career. When my husband and I got married, we decided to raise our family where we grew up and have lived within 10 minutes of our childhood homes throughout our 14 years of marriage thus far. While I have always loved Davis County, I would watch friends in other areas of Utah go to delicious restaurants and participate in fun activities that I felt we were missing out on by living where we live. I set out to find places to eat and play in the area where I lived and share that with others. Davis County Date Nights (Davis County Dates) was born out of that desire to explore more and share what we found with others, along with my background in relationship education. The goal of Davis County Dates is to share fun ways for couples to connect without having to travel too far.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
When I started Davis County Dates, I was really only familiar with a small section of our area. We also had a lot of favorite places to eat and activities to participate in so finding a balance between experiencing the new to us or new to the community, while still making time for those regular things we enjoy as a couple and a family was tricky. I would also say that starting Davis County Dates when we had young kids (2 years and 9 months at the time) was a challenge because we didn’t have the same amount of time, energy, and money to get out and do that I see others in a similar space have. Another challenging time came during the pandemic when so much was unknown and activities/events were being canceled while restaurants were closing completely or for limited to-go service. All of these barriers and challenges have shaped how I approach what I share with Davis County Date Nights! I continue to share everything there is available while giving couples in various stages of life unique options for enjoying the community in a way that works with their situation, and sharing what we are able to do and how exploring the community fits into our current life circumstances.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I consider myself a content creator and relationship expert! I have a Bachelor’s degree in Family Studies, and a Master’s of Education with an emphasis in Family Life Education, and I’m a Certified Family Life Educator. My credentials, mixed with my talent for creating connections and building relationships have helped me to get to know my community and share the content I share with others in a way that inspires them and encourages them to step outside of their comfort zone to add novelty and create new connection in their relationship. I know A LOT about Davis County and what I don’t know, I’m always looking to learn. I have many connections with people and places but I constantly work to create new connections and get to know the people and area where we live even better. My excitement and personable nature work well alongside my goals for Davis County Dates!
Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
No matter where you choose to live, work, or play, always be looking for something new! Adventure doesn’t always mean jumping out of airplanes or swimming with the sharks. Adventure can be exploring a new trail in the mountains by your home, testing out the swings at all of the parks in your city, trying a new type of food, or a restaurant that’s been there and you’ve always wondered about. Adventure can also be as simple as going out with people you’ve never been out with before or sitting in a different seat than you usually would. As someone who lives, works, and plays in the same community, I look for new ways to connect and learn about my community and the surrounding area on a daily basis and then I act on that knowledge and try that out with myself, friends, my partner, my kids, or our families.
