Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrea Cevallos.
Hi Andrea, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
In 2015, I started sharing my day by day on Snapchat. Then I realized that people were becoming interested in what I was doing and what my opinions were about some trending topics. Most of them agreed with me; some others didn’t. I shared recipes too and some dancing videos, also I shared my pastry business tips. When Instagram got popular I migrate to it and at the same time, I started a cooking YouTube Channel.
Every time I felt more connection with my community, I was growing and my number of followers was too. I realized that I could make a bigger impact and decided to start talking about self-esteem and empowering people just by letting them know how valuable they were. I was so clear with my speech, everyone deserves to be happy and it doesn’t matter what’s their religion, weight, height, and origin, etc. everybody deserves respect.
My community made stronger and bigger. Now, I still feel the connection with my followers and I feel that they are my second family. I even started giving online pastry classes because I realized that teaching is a great way to empower people, knowledge is power and I am so happy to give them that.
On the other side, I started selling desserts when I was in high school. At the age of 23, after trying to study architecture and then hospitality and management I was clear that neither of those careers made me happy. So, I decided to change it for something that I knew was my passion: Culinary arts.
After three years I finished my career and at the same time, I was managing my own business in Lima, Peru. I used to sell cupcakes and cakes and also teach pastry classes. In 2019, I came to the US to make an internship program and learn some more.
In 2020, when the pandemic started I went back home and at the request of my followers and clients, I tried to give online pastry classes. As I said before, I didn’t know how empowering knowledge could be for people since I started teaching again. Knowing that I could change lives just by giving all that I’ve learned was amazing.
Now, I keep giving online classes and also private pastry, Peruvian, and any kind of food classes.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It was at first but having to struggle with haters was awful. I was not used to receiving bad comments or having so many people watching everything I do and of course, watching me making mistakes. So, I had to learn how to ignore or try to make some people unlearn or try to teach them my point of view.
About teaching, I think the hardest part is when I have questions that I don’t know but being honest and recognizing when something is out of your knowledge is a good thing and you can also learn more so you are going to be prepared for the next time.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m good to empower people, I love giving students knowledge because is something that they will never lose. I’m good at cooking and baking and that’s what I teach, so then people can run a small business and be independent.
I think what sets me apart from others is that I’m so empathic and respectful, I also don’t believe that we must destroy the world when we compete. I think that there’s space for everyone and that everyone has a talent or is good at something and we should start trying to understand that.
I’m really good at baking and my strongest field talking about salty food is Peruvian food of course.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Happiness. Resilience. And success comes to you when you learn how to deal with life struggles and when you also know that mistakes are not related to fault but with learning. Also, happiness is a number of small things on a daily basis.
