Today, we’d like to introduce you to Cameryn Wilkins.
Hi Cameryn, we are so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started photography as a hobby back in 2016, shortly after my aunt photographed my senior photos.
Over the next four years, I had much fun photographing my friends and family. Amid COVID-19, in July 2020, I decided to go full force into starting my photography business. I quickly realized just how much I didn’t truly know about the photography world and became a sponge to soaking up all the knowledge I could while marketing myself to my community.
After almost four years in business, I have gained many new photographer friends and a solid community of supporters. I am pursuing my dreams of being a wedding photographer and loving this field overall! I truly couldn’t be happier with how photography has shaped my life.
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Definitely not a smooth road! My first year in business I had to hustle in making a name for myself while figuring out my overall style.
This included a TON of free sessions and not seeing any profit – however, this helped me a lot in the long run. There were many times I wanted to give up, but I was so happy I didn’t and pursued through.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar with what you do, what can you tell them about what you do?
I specialize in couples/wedding photography.
I am most known for my “spunky” personality and for connecting with my clients throughout working together. I am most proud of how far I’ve come. No matter any obstacles I faced and how much I wanted to give up at times, I stuck through and created a business I love!
Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My favorite childhood memory is always being with my family. I grew up on the same property as my cousins, so we spent much time together and had stories to tell for a lifetime.
