Rising Stars: Meet Chandler Evans

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chandler Evans.

Hi Chandler, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started in the motorcycle industry 10 years ago. About 6 months out of high school. I started in the lowest position at the shop and worked my way to the manager.

I managed the shop for the better part of 10 years before deciding to pursue my dream of owning my own business in the V-twin motorcycle world. Hoggish Cycles is a brand and shop that is all about pushing man and machine to its limits. Abandoning comfort zones and learning everything possible along the way. Bikes that are built for the purpose of exploring this country.

We specialize in 1984-2003 naturally aspirated V-twin motorcycles. Restoration styling with performance modifications as well as a platform built for touring. We are fueled by our passion and love for the open road.

Located in Salt Lake County, Utah. We can facilitate anything from buying and selling bikes and parts to full frame-up build or restoration. Transport services, detailing, and service work. We are the place for genuine, personal relationships within this industry.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road has been and will always be a struggle. The beauty comes when you find the win inside of that struggle. I try to look at the daily grind as the finish line. I believe I am fortunate for being able and willing to work for what I want. It beats the hell out of a cubicle. The finances might not make sense and this isn’t a business that you get rich in but I get to do something that sets my soul on fire. If you love what you do, you get to make love every day. To me, that is worth more than any rocky roads I’ve been on or will endure in the future.

If you don’t quit, you can’t lose. I try to look at it this way…. If you’re having a rough time or if life is throwing you obstacles you think are getting the best of you. Just look at it as if you are in the 2nd quarter of a game. You might be down and losing but there is still a lot of game left to be played there is still time to come back, to overcome, and to find a way to win. Now, believe me, I spend and plan on spending most of my life in the second quarter. I will always believe no matter what that there is time left to fight. The sun will always come up tomorrow you will always get another opportunity to fight. Don’t give up. Keep going.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
This is a good question. First and foremost, I am most proud of being a father. I am a biker through and through but I am a father to my daughter first. I am proud to show her that you can do anything you want to. If you have the desire, focus, and drive you can figure the rest out. Unrelentless pursuit to continue to live free and answer to as few people as possible. To me, raising and teaching your child the endless possibilities that are out there in the world is the most important thing you can do.

Everything I do in my business is directly related to teaching my child to go further, push harder, and take risks. Be the immovable object or unstoppable force, keep going. Never ever give up. I have started a blog on my website to show the ins and outs of this life. Showing the experiences of building, traveling, and exploring with motorcycles. For anyone that wants to know what it’s like or to get a taste of it that is the place to go.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
I don’t have much advice as I would say I am also starting out. However, as I have said in these previous questions. Don’t quit. Keep going. Have a stronger work ethic than anyone around you. If you work hard and what it more than anyone else then you will get to where you want to go. I’ve also realized that sometimes the place you think your head isn’t where you’re going to end up.

As long as you keep going and push on it doesn’t matter, you will end up where you belong. Have faith in yourself, dig deep, and see what’s inside. Meet the monster that has been waiting inside, waiting for you to start hunting the weakness. I feel like I, as well as others, get caught up in what the rest of the world is doing or thinking. Let it all go. Love the people who are important to you and do what you love. Keep it simple and keep going.
