Today we’d like to introduce you to Colie Belieu.
Hi Colie, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Originally from the Pacific Northwest, I moved to Park City, Utah in 2013 following my initial 200 RYT Yoga Teacher Training. In Park City, I took a Prenatal Yoga Teacher Training and found my passion in working with perinatal women through yoga. I love to support women as they transition into mothers, helping them to care for and nurture themselves and their growing babies. I have taught prenatal and postnatal yoga classes locally in Park City, UT since 2014. During the COVID pandemic, I decided to put more energy into creating something accessible to all mothers, and launched an online course for women from fertility preparation, through pregnancy to birth, called Mindful Motherhood. The themes and content were created from my experiences working with and in the perinatal community, creating my yoga classes and continuing my education and training in yoga. The modules include guided prenatal yoga classes and meditations, breathing techniques, affirmations, journal prompts and more with themes relevant to the prenatal experience and in preparation for birth. The online modules can be found at https://mindfulmotherhood.teachable.com. As I created the online courses I felt inspired to turn the courses into a book to go into more detail on each theme, as well as share my pregnancy story. The book, Mindful Motherhood: A Yoga Based Journey to Pregnancy and Birth, was just released, Saturday, June 11th and can be found on Amazon. My prenatal and postnatal yoga classes are still offered in Park City, UT at the zero-waste refinery studio called fulFILLed every first and third Sunday of the month. More information can be found on my website at www.yogaearthdesign.com
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Teaching such a specific group as the perinatal community comes with challenges as the women become mothers and graduate into motherhood, and baby grows up. There are always ebbs and flows of pregnant and postpartum mothers who have found my classes, sometimes it can be difficult to find them. The classes offer to many new mothers, with supportive yoga poses, peaceful mediations, conversation and connection with other mothers and an opportunity to create a bond with their growing baby. I believe mothers who take my classes are truly touched by them and they help them on their journeys into motherhood. My ultimate goal is to help women become the best mothers they can be. COVID was a challenge because due to the vulnerability of being pregnant or postpartum and having a precious new baby, I moved my classes from in studio to virtually, and although it was nice to connect via zoom, it wasn’t the same as in person.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a yoga instructor who specializes in prenatal and postnatal yoga and teach classes locally in Park City, UT. I recently launched an online course for women from fertility preparation through pregnancy to birth. I also wrote a book called Mindful Motherhood: A Yoga-Based Journey to Pregnancy and Birth.
I also have another business called Cee Bee’s Designs which I do seasonally design work, mostly with plant material.
Additionally, I have a small flower farm called Mountain Desert Farms in Peoa, UT.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I feel that I have followed my intuition and passions, and met wonderful, amazing and inspiring people who have supported, and encouraged me to follow my heart and my dreams to create the life and business I have dreamt of, making it possible for me to succeed. I am not sure if you would call this luck, but perhaps I would call it good luck, if I would call it luck.
