Today we’d like to introduce you to Collin Brackin.
Hi Collin, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Growing up as a little kid my favorite TV show was Suite Life of Zack and Cody, I loved how they were always doing whatever they wanted, and people loved watching it. Every day for them was something different, growing up in a small town in Preston, everyone was so narrow-minded.
I was told things like “You’ll never be on TV, you’re from Preston Idaho.” I moved out of Preston at the age of 20 where I moved just outside of logan Utah. I’ve watched people like Stradman and Goonzquad and one night I was laying on the couch watching YouTube with my bestfriend Christian.
We always dreamed of being YouTubers and finally one day, I had Christian help me at taking a shot towards starting a YouTube channel, all odds were against us, it was snowing, it was windy, we didn’t have a plan, and it was COLD! We turned on the camera and started shooting what would eventually be my first YouTube video ever.
This was December 27th or 2019. I had this dream and passion for being on tv and showing people how I live my life, what I do, and what I’m passionate about. I posted YouTube videos for almost a whole year before my whole life turned around.
By the way, Christian is now a famous YouTuber @create208 as well. My whole personal channel was based around, trucks, cars, SxS, and anything fun. I was working at Jimmy Johns as an area manager when I came up with the idea “be an impact” my goal for 2020 was to be an impact (in a good way) to 1 million people.
This was a HUGE goal and I had no idea how I was going to hit it. One of my followers, Jesse told me I should make content based on my dogs (which I am a HUGE lover of Rottweilers.) I had 3 at the time and so I asked him what type of content he would like to see, and he said “I’m getting a Rottweiler and want to take care of him as you do yours.”
So I got straight to work, I created “The Rotty Channel” on YouTube and posted my first video on July, 16th 2020. After 1 month and only 7 views, I went back to work on my channel and logged out of my “Rotty Channel” account. Two months later, I noticed the login and saw it said “270 subscribers on the rotty channel” so I logged in and saw that my video was up to 5000 views, and was getting about 100 a day at this point.
Keep in mind my personal channel had 600 subscribers and that took me 7 months and 24 videos. So I made another Rottweiler video and posted it. That one did well too, and so I knew I was into something here. On thanksgiving eve 2020, my rotty channel hit 1000 subscribers, just a few days before my personal one hit 1000 subscribers.
On YouTube, you need 4000 hours of watch time, and 1000 subscribers in the last year, to be monetized. By the end of 2020, I had built 2 YouTube channels that got accepted into the partner program. I started pumping out content like no other, I knew that in order to get where I wanted to be, I had to work Live I’ve never worked before, I took literally every single dollar I made on YouTube the first 6 months of getting paid and reinvested it right back into the channel.
I bought camera equipment, microphones, lighting, computers, and storage devices you name it. I knew that if I was going to get results that were unreal, my work ethic and dedication had to be as well. I watched these people doing full-time YouTube and knew they took years and years to get there, and I just wasn’t patient enough to wait.
So I worked my 50-hour workweeks at Jimmy Johns and was off by about 4-5 pm and I would work on my YouTube channel every free second I had. I slept an average of 3/4 hours a night. Because I knew, I had to make up the time that I didn’t want to wait for. I worked very hard in 2021 and posted an average of 1 YouTube video, every 2 days.
350-something videos in almost 2 years. I was working my fingers literally to the bone, I was exhausted every day, sometimes I forgot to sleep cause I wanted this dream just so bad. In the fall of 2020, I met my partner, Sahm., we have been inseparable since we met, and are now expecting a daughter any day.
Sahm has been by my side through everything. She has supported me working sometimes 90 hours a week. She was very introverted and not about the camera and vlogging life, so that was a little hurdle we had to overcome in order to mix our 2 lifestyles.
In 2020, I decided if I was going to take my YouTube channel to the next level, I couldn’t have 2 full-time YouTube channels, work 50 hours a week and raise a family, and farm.
So January 14th or 2021, I decided to go full-time with YouTube/content creating. While at Jimmy Johns I accomplished SO MANY THINGS. In some of the most profitable stores in the company, I developed a passion for working with people and growing profit in a business. Now it was time to go on my own.
When people knew I no longer was at Jimmy John, they started to ask if I had time to help them with their company marketing/video goals. Very soon I realized I had a gift that a lot of people wanted to hire me for. 2 years ago I had 3000 followers on all social media.
Today, I am currently creeping over 200,000 followers/subscribers. I have a passion for helping businesses grow, and a passion for being entertaining on camera, so I put those 2 together and have accomplished what we have today. As a little kid, I loved cars, trucks, dogs, and anything Offroad. Today, I love my family, cars, trucks, dogs, and anything off-road. The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree they say,
Growing up, I let people discourage me from chasing my dreams, and when I set out to “be an impact” that was my biggest goal, show everyone, but most importantly, myself, that anything is possible with hard work, consistency, and the mindset you put towards it.
Today, I am full-time working from home, literally living the dream. Sahm and I live on a small ranch in northern Utah known as “The Rotty Ranch.” We have Rottweilers, goats, chickens, fish, and plan to bring horses, cows, and all the life to our ranch. I’ve always been a country boy from a city family, and Sahm is a city girl, who had now fallen in love with a country boy.
A lot of our ranch projects and vlogs can be found on our YouTube channel. We are big supporters of the community we live in and are always willing to help out When we can. The rotty channel can be found on: YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook. I can be found @Collinbrackin on: YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, and Twitter.
With enough passion, and willingness to do anything for your dreams, they are possible.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Not a smooth road at all. I’ve worked 18 hours on projects that absolutely failed and no one watched.
It’s discouraging at times, but when you have a “why”, you can bear almost any “how.” My why, was making this happen, because I know how important that little kid in me wanted to be a tv star.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m well known on most platforms. I am a huge advocate in the Rottweiler community.
On TikTok, my personal page has over 70k followers and over 40 million views. My YouTube @the rotty channel has 70,000 subscribers and 11 million views. I’m well known in the Powerstroke (ford truck community) for my how-to videos. I’m a known mustang enthusiast as well.
A lot of my followers enjoy watching me work on my vehicles x I have a 2020 F-350 platinum and a 2021 mustang GT. I have documented the build process on both and shared relative content to my followers which has resulted in being shared ALOT!
I am well known and get hired quite a bit for my marketing knowledge, people love the ideas and life I bring into their companies. I do a lot of marketing, videography, and cinematography for a lot of local companies. I am most proud of my ability to work like no other, which I got from my dad.
I never saw my dad not show up, even when both his hips went out he was in pain every day and still showed up to provide for his family. I am very proud of my willingness to learn new things and always be chasing that next goal.
The sky is the limit, and I’m shooting past that.
Any big plans?
Oh man, this is so loaded. I’ve always got so much in the plans. I’m currently working on starting up a YouTube channel called “simple real estate” and I’m trying to find some waterfront property to build a shophouse/getaway ranch for my family.
My dogs love rivers and lakes so I want to build a property they can run for miles and miles and not hit the end. I plan to put my family first, our daughter, sahm, and future family as well. That’s something my family taught me as well, work is important, but family is too.
We are currently working on offering the rotty channel in multiple languages in the world so our reach can be as wide as possible. We have clothing lines in the works, dog toys, and farm animal toys in the works. We are always looking for ways to give back to the community as well.
The future holds so many gifts, and I can’t wait to unwrap them.
