Today we’d like to introduce you to Daisy Mincey.
Hi Daisy, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
When I was a little girl, I had always dreamed of creating videos to post on YouTube. I was never 100% sure of what I’d post but I knew my top 2 passions were food and fashion. When I finally got the courage to start my YouTube journey and begin creating videos I was in my mid-20s and while it took me a while to start, I am so happy I finally did. Now that I am creating videos, I feel as if I have finally tuned into my biggest passion. Food has become the bulk of the content I create and I get so excited to try new cuisines whether it’s a traditional food from other countries or new fast food restaurants, I am always trying new food! I believe we can connect with each other through food, and I have found an audience through it that I am so grateful for. Exploring food in all ways you can imagine gives me new perspectives and teaches me about other cultures and the history behind many states in the US and other countries as well! We all have to eat to survive, so might as well enjoy it to its fullest extent.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Following what you are most passionate about never comes easy. Dealing with outside opinions and comments that do not necessarily align with your own vision or beliefs has been a challenge that I am still working to overcome. When you put yourself out there for the world to judge you, it can be hard to not block out the negativity or second-guess yourself and what you’re doing. Everyone has opinions that they are not afraid to share on the internet and you have to really trust yourself and have confidence in what you’re doing to not allow it to bring you down. With time, I have become far more resilient to negativity and accept those who do not resonate with the content I create. As long as you are doing what you love and creating a life you are proud of, that is what truly matters.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My professional career is actually within the recruiting space and I have been in this field for nearly 5 years now! I am currently working as a recruiter for a nutrition service company, hiring dietitians for long-term care facilities. With me being a full-time employee as a recruiter, my YouTube career has been more of a hobby that I do on the side. It is a perfect combination though because I have a full-time job that I love and can rely on while still being able to creatively express myself through my hobby. I truly believe as individuals, we all need a creative outlet to be able to express ourselves freely. I love both my day job as well as my hobby on YouTube and I am thankful that I can do them alongside each other and grow from both.
Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
As a child, my sister and I were always outside playing and being imaginative. When we were kids, we did not have electronics or screens to play with. We had to come up with our own ways to entertain ourselves and I am so thankful for that because it made us so much more creative. One of my favorite games we would play was recreating scenes from our favorite movies. We would dress up like the actors and find props and act out the best scenes from the movies. I remember we were both obsessed with the Nancy Drew movie and acted like we were sleuths solving mysteries and fighting crime. Nowadays, I am still very imaginative and love to create ideas in my mind and bring those visions to life.
