Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Betty DeLass, PT, DPT.
Hi Dr. Betty , so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started the practice in Omaha, NE as a mobile business going to people’s homes during Covid. Shortly after we relocated to Salt Lake City and I began mobile as well. Little did I know that we would quickly have a long waiting list and we transitioned to a brick and mortar location. Additionally, we started as an all cash-pay clinic and have transitioned to a true hybrid clinic- meaning we now work with most major insurances in-network, out of network, HSA/FSA, CareCredit, and Cash Pay. We have grown from 1 provider/1 employee to 18+ providers/30+employees with 4 locations in Layton, Murray, Lehi, and Provo, UT.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
We moved locations, changed business models, and have grown rapidly over the first 5 years in business. Having a family and running a business has its challenges for sure! I am a 110% person so I went all in and that can often lead to burn out, which I did experience while opening the second clinic. Thankfully, I learned my lesson and put in strategies, hired people to help and stopped treating patients to run the business.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I do a lot of teaching/mentoring pelvic health therapists as well as business consulting. I am known for doing educational workshops for other pelvic health providers to learn more about about pelvic health through a PT lens as well as speaking engagements in the community.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
Pelvic Health particularly is growing in recognition as it is extremely helpful in conservative management and produces life changing results. I foresee pelvic health continuing to grow rapidly.
