Rising Stars: Meet FERRARI$MOKE of Salt Lake City

Today we’d like to introduce you to FERRARI$MOKE

Hi FERRARI$MOKE, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
FERRARI$MOKE is an independent recording artist originally from Raleigh, North Carolina. Starting his musical journey in 2017 under the stage name ‘vinniecassius’. Early FERRARI started out reciting poetry live and playing with Ogden bands, filling in the spaces and rapping over live instruments. This gradually turned into more song writing and recognition locally, where FERRARI has been able to find his sport as a huge figure and influence in the Utah art scene.

FERRARI credits being a polished and eclectic artist to his constant quest for new music at a young age, with infuses such as SADE, 112, and Jodeci and as he got older he gravitated towards artists like, Fugazi, Nirvana, and The Roots. Just like the artist that he has idolized and molded his own lane from, FERRARI’s lyrics and grace center around emotion and experience all while displaying his eclectic range and love for smooth melodies, unique sonics, and elite word play and delivery.

Being an influence artists in the local community, FERRARI has always championed the art community of Utah and has always looked for ways to build community and relationships with in SLC. This sparked the idea of the very successful ‘SMOKE SESSN’ (later named LOCAL DISORDER)
, which is a live music / vendors market style event hosted by FERRARI that features some of Utah hottest clothing brands, creators, designers, and, performing artists. Continuously pushing the envelope for locally owned events companies and artists ownership.

Being well versed and in and out of different art communities within the valley, FERRARI later formed a band that blends post punk and essences of hip hop, called IDLE IN SPORT MODE. With long time friend, producer, and engineer of ABX Studio, Adam Banx. Alongside band members:
Steady Steeze, Anthoz, and Tyler K.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There’s always a lot of struggles as an artist- self doubt, time and money management, duality and the hurdles of getting your city behind your art. It’s been a long road but I’ve always been able to display and exude excellence and genuine love in everything i do within the community. I am just happy to be here at this point and very thankful and fortunate to have the circle of creatives i have and the relationships and strong connections i have been able to build.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Songwriter, Rapper, Performer, Engineer, Creative Director, and Event coordinator

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
My advise to any artists, especially starting out is to read and write as much as you can. This helps develop an inner dialogue / narrative voice that for me, helped my mind stay active within storytelling. Do everything with intention and have a strong self of what you want to achieve. Never box yourself to one from of creative expression and always try.
