Rising Stars: Meet Hildegard Koenig

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hildegard Koenig.

Hi Hildegard, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Thank you for the opportunity!  I am the co-founder and president for Ink Against Cancer- Cancer Warriors Foundation. Ink Against Cancer, LLC was founded in 2017 in an effort to raise funds for our brother Austin Bell “Wolf” while going through his own cancer journey. After our brother’s passing, we kept the promise to establish an organization to continue to help other cancer warriors in his memory; especially children. In 2020, IAC-Cancer Warriors Foundation was created as a non-profit, 501(c)(3) foundation.

IAC- Cancer Warriors Foundation is committed to making a difference by keeping the spirit alive and honoring the memory of our brother, mother in law,  and all others who have fought cancer courageously.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Our foundation has non-paid staff and is all volunteer-driven. We work tirelessly, putting together events to raise funds for Cancer Warriors. We do not receive government funding, We rely solely on the support of the community, donations, and sponsorship.

Cancer did not stop with COVID-19, many of our Cancer Warriors barriers and challenges have increased. Because of the nature of what we do and keeping everyone involved safe,  holding live personal events has been harder.

We had to be creative in different ways to raise funds virtually. as we received an increase of applications for financial assistance. Many of the Cancer Warriors are in desperate need of help for rent, food, utilities, etc.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Ink Against Cancer-Cancer Warriors Foundation supports Cancer Warriors with their day-to-day financial support to cover rent, medical expenses, transportation, medicine, food expenses, and daily living expenses while going through their journey. Also, we have helped to organize and financially support individuals’ last wishes.

We hold several events throughout the year, but the Ink Against Cancer annual event is unique bringing the community together; tattoo artists, vendors, and artists of all different mediums in a neutral and positive space to make a difference while raising funds for cancer warriors

Lastly, everyone has their own reason to get involved in various foundations and non-profit organizations. But what sets us apart from other organizations: 100% of any donation funds raised are given directly to our Cancer Warriors; We are transparent with all donations received for, and dispersed to Cancer Warriors.  Anyone can see how their participation with this charity directly benefits the Cancer Warriors. You will be able to help change the lives of so many affected by this life-altering diagnosis.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
We are always looking for individuals to volunteer, and artists of all mediums wanting to participate in our events and/or collaborate by hosting remote events to raise funds for Cancer Warriors.  We are looking for companies and/or businesses to help sponsor events and/or support Cancer Warriors families throughout the holidays.

This is an incredible organization who helped not only me but my family especially my children. They blessed us in monetary funds to help with my pay my physical therapy to strengthen my body and pay bills since I can only work part time. They have blessed us with food and also Christmas gifts for my children. While recovering frim my surgery, a couple of their board members are helping me get my disabled son into the house since I cannot lift. I appreciate Hilde checking up on me and my family.
