Today we’d like to introduce you to Jacob Amundsen.
Hi Jacob, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
After working as a creative director at an agency in Northern Utah, I took the chance to develop my own agency, and we moved to Southern Utah. We saw a hole in the market for solid, creative design firms and decided to be the one to fill that hole. 5 years later, we’ve worked with international rock stars and massive name brands, all the way down to local favorites in the southern Utah area.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
We’ve worked really hard to be a debt-free business, so we’ve been bootstrapping the entire time. It can be difficult to build out a well-rounded team and balancing the need for more business with the number of employees you have can be tricky sometimes. To me, it’s important to set up a culture of collaboration and creativity and let every person on the team feel as though their voice matters in making creative decisions at the company.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
We are Venture Creative, a creative advertising and design agency, and a one stop shop for any marketing needs. At Venture Creative, we pride ourselves in helping clients trek through the world of marketing and advertising. We are purveyors of stories and peddlers of identities. While we like to think we’ll do anything short of your laundry, to simplify things, we’ve divided our services into four distinct pillars. Digital Marketing, Branding & Design, Web Development & Photography/Videography. Chances are most client needs will fall under one of these four pillars, except maybe the laundry bit.
We are a FAST team with a great turnaround time and we are on the cutting edge of design, trends and style. We’ve had our work be seen by literally BILLIONS of people, including having merch we designed worn by Tim Cook, CEO of Apple, and Robert Redford. We love seeing our work in the world and having people engage with our creatives, and ultimately we love seeing our customers succeed and become more profitable as a direct result of our work.
What were you like growing up?
I was not much of a sports kid, usually picking dandelions in the outfield of baseball, dreaming up what new Lego creation I’d build when I was back at home. I was always intrigued by building, creating and performing, from model rocketry, stage magic, music, robotics, art, design and more. If it involved storytelling and/or creation, I was all over it. My dream jobs went from Roller Coaster designer, to Hollywood director, to Disney Imagineer. I was always obsessed with the creative process and quality storytelling.
