Today we’d like to introduce you to Jaimee And Ruben.
Hi Jaimee and Ruben, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Our vision for the business started a long time ago. We both had a dream about opening a coffee cart in our singleness. When we met we shared about our dreams that we had “put on a bookshelf” so to speak and discovered the shared passion we had for coffee. Roughly a year and a half into being married we felt it was time to pursue that dream. After about 8 months working on building the cart and all of the legalities we officially launched in September of 2024.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road has been fun, but not shy of challenges. The concept of a coffee cart was new to the health department, so we had to build rapport with them in order to get our licensing, which took time. Additionally, Ruben, built and rebuilt the cart from scratch, we just introduced our refined model this January. You could say the journey hasn’t had any sort of blueprint, but the vision God gave us has helped us pave the way.
All that said we have enjoyed the process, we care a lot about quality coffee and the customer connection so it has been so enjoyable for us to curate and craft the cart for others.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I have worked in the coffee industry for roughly 7 years. Coffee was always a place for me of refuge I would sit at coffee shops with people for hours and I grew up drinking coffee with my mom, a cherished memory, which all drew me into the coffee industry. When serving as a barista I fell in love with how the machines worked. What it takes to make the two machines complement each other to make a good product. Additionally, customer connection in coffee was more than service, it was making friends and building community. The more I served them the better I got to know people, which made me enjoy the overall aspect of serving coffee. Jaimee would say I know someone everywhere from coffee connections. I just love to be around new environments and connecting with people. Everything we do is intentional, we truly care about your day when we ask, we genuinely want you to love your drink and we think that care level sets us apart.-Ruben
The coffee cart gives us an opportunity to do more than hand someone a cup of coffee. We never want someone to feel like it’s a rushed experience, but more of a pause and breath of fresh air. Our hope is that you experience joy or peace within our interactions. Our rhythms are all very intentional towards those we are serving. In an ever growing rushed society we try to do something different. Something observant and thoughtful. -Jaimee
From a clients perspective they shared “You two are very approachable it feels like your heart is set into everything from your sign to your syrups, there’s magic of you two running this.”
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Use thorough planning, but don’t overthink it. Don’t be afraid to ask for help, there’s plenty of people who are willing to help, including us! Ask for help with projections, timelines and even your taxes. Becoming a business owner opens the door to a lot of unfamiliar territory, but keep in mind that there’s a ton of kind business owners around willing to share knowledge.
We wish we knew the timeline a bit earlier. But we trust that God opened doors for us in perfect timing.
Lastly, don’t compare yourself. There’s space for you to share a talent with the world that is unique to you. People are drawn to authenticity, so be yourself.
