Today we’d like to introduce you to Kat Wood
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Hi! I am Kat. I am a mom of 3, my husband is a high school basketball coach & throughout all the chaos of life I found my little corner of the world on social media. I joined “booktok” beginning of 2023 & have since grown and expanded into creating and running an Author Services Business. Tiktok opened many doors for me, it introduced me to so many incredible people and other like minded individuals who are in the same phase (or phases) of life. Being able to create content on social media really started to form into a passion. I started working as a personal assistant to two authors beginning of 2024, which led to me starting and co-owning Inkspire Author Services. This is a PR & Marketing service that works directly with indie (independently) published authors. We run social media management, book tours and promotions, and create individual content. I have since been invited to join conventions as both an influencer and a vendor. I was trying to find something that would allow me to be a mom first & follow my passions. I couldn’t find it, so I created it.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I think with anything new there are natural bumps and adjustments. Imposter syndrome hits quite frequently, the thought of should I be on this app or in this space? With posting content as myself there is little risk but working with clients and authors I do have to work through the pressure to get it right. How I envision a character or a book scene may be different than the author so it is finding a way to work with their aesthetic and their vibe.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Apart from being on social media, I co-founded and run Inkspire Author Services. We are a PR/Marking service tailored to independent (or otherwise) published authors. At Inkspire we work hand in hand with authors who are in need of marketing tools or assistance. This included, social media management, book tours (typically 6-8 week long promotional tours advertising their books), content creation, team management, and more. We are here to take on more of the behind the scenes work for authors. In todays world books are being mass produced and while that is amazing it also means you have to compete with a wide number of genres and authors similar to you. At Inkspire we are here to help the author and their book stand out. We set them up with readers, influencers and other PR groups that can help generate buzz. Social Media can be such an amazing tool if used correctly. The power of social media is amazing and the reach is huge! I have used social media to build my own platform and now I am taking what I have learned and studied and am now applying it to Inkspire to help authors everywhere! We started 6 months ago and have grown to 14 authors and counting, we have added more to our services and we are going as a vendor to Romance Out West, which will be in Sandy in March 2025. I think what sets us apart is that we are readers and book lovers first. I absolutely love what I do. I love being immersed in new worlds & I love to help .
Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
I think Covid was such a fundamental time for me. I was pregnant and had a baby during covid so being isolated during that time was mentally very hard for me. I needed a way to interact & to help separate the stress from having a new baby & the world. Social Media absolutely was that escape and tool for so many people. While I didn’t create my booktok until 2023. I was well involved long before that, it just took me a little courage to take that leap!

- Our book tours start at $500 and go to $1500. We offer 3 different packages that have different levels of what services we provide & what is included in each tour.
- Content creation starts at $30 a graphic and is sold in sets of 10. Large sets are giving in a bundle discount.
