Rising Stars: Meet Kris Lamoreaux of Salt Lake City

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kris Lamoreaux.

Hi Kris, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My sister-in-law and I opened the store in June of 2013 with the goal of providing healthy dog food and treats for dogs and cats. In April of 2015 my sister-in-law passed away unexpectedly. Along with the heartbreak of her loss I was then faced with running the store by myself. My amazing retired Mom stepped in and has been with me ever since. We donate to many rescue and shelter groups as well as schools and other non-profits which to me is what it’s all about. We are still chugging along, we have wonderful customers that really care about their pets.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been smooth at all, it seems like I’m on a roller coaster. Funding is the only struggle we have faced.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I spend alot of my time researching foods and nutrition. I have several nutrition certificates that sets me apart from others, like the big box stores. I am extremely proud that we have new customers that specifically come to our store for advice on what to feed their pets and were sent to us from existing customers that we have helped.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I love the support we get and the opportunities we have to participate in city events to put our name out there. Although I don’t live in Cottonwood Heights it still feels like home.
