Today we’d like to introduce you to Nanci Heart.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I am a massage therapist/bodyworker/intuitive healer, utilizing my hands as tools to listen to the stories people’s bodies are trying to tell when they are still enough to listen. I have dealt with my own chronic pain and emotional trauma. I was called to do this work several years ago after working as a dental hygienist for 12 years and seeing a need for helping clients in the dental chair with calming their anxiety through breath work and using their senses. I began doodling the words “Healing with Nanci Heart” and from there sparked this beautiful world that has brought so much healing to others and to myself!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Becoming a massage therapist has mostly been smooth for me. I live life very intuitively and trust the universe. I believe things are meant to “flow” and if I’m trying to force something, it simply isn’t right. Things have lined up in this perfect beautiful way.
Struggles would be… raising my kids as a single mom while managing my own mental health. Covid-19 made it tricky for a while to find proper care for my kids so I could work when first starting out.
Also, I had to face some challenges in figuring out how to deal with my own sexual trauma from childhood as massage is such an intimate setting. I’ve worked on triggers and boundary setting I couldn’t have learned in any other way that’s been empowering.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a massage therapist/body worker/intuitive healer.
I offer amazing massages!
My Google reviews seem to share praises of kindness, attention to detail, calming way about me, intuitive and I listen to what your body needs that day, no two massages are ever the same.
I’m proud of my determination and ability to keep going when it’s tough, and gift of seeing people’s potential and inviting them to see it too.
What were you like growing up?
I was shy when you first met me as a child but loved to smile and play. I had a big heart and loved animals. I loved to move my body and was a gifted athlete winning several state championships as a lacrosse player in high school. I loved music and performing playing the oboe. I loved trying new things. I loved having fun and laughing. My parent are both deaf and American Sign Language is my first language. I was part of both the deaf world and the hearing world and learned to communicate in both worlds, and to pay attention to what is not spoken aloud through facial expression and body language, or listening heart to heart without needing words.
