Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Aston.
Hi Nicole, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I fell in love with photography as a little 14 year old, handed her first point-and-shoot digital camera. I photographed my first wedding while still in high school and found my calling in life. I’ve been photographing weddings all around the world for over 13 years now and still can’t believe my dream job is my real life!
I now specialize in destination weddings and elopements and have a thriving business based in Salt Lake City, Utah, but that takes me across the globe to capture couples in love.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Of course not! Building and running your own business is not for the faint of heart, and my heart sure felt faint a few times over the years. Thankfully I have an incredible husband who helps me run the business and never let me give up when times were hard!
I also am challenged both with a severe case of Crohn’s Disease, and Degenerative Disc Disease. Working through these debilitating, lifelong diseases while traveling + photographing across the world every week has presented me with unique challenges and obstacles most business owners don’t have to face. I also fully believe photography has helped save me from falling to the lowest points these diseases can bring you, both physically and emotionally.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m known for bold, cinematic imagery that feels completely true to you, your relationship, and your day- all while making you feel and look like you just stepped off the cover of Vogue!
My energy and enthusiasm for you and your love story has ALL my couples feeling completely at ease in front of the camera. One of my favorite claims to fame is that in over 15 years, every single couple has walked away from me saying “that was so easy/so fun!”, even though most had never been in front of a camera before!
I specialize in capturing couples and their wedding or elopement days across the globe! You’ll see me traveling most weeks out of the year, meeting couples in incredible locations and telling their story.
What matters most to you? Why?
Relationships, whether friends or family, mean the most to me. I’m privileged to both capture and witness the most beautiful and inspiring relationships on full display at the weddings I photograph, both familial and friendly. My clients and their families teach me so much about truly loving and celebrating one another.
