Today we’d like to introduce you to RRRRRecords. They and their team shared their story with us below:
RRRRRecords is a band of four lifelong friends whose members grew up chronically online in the suburbs. The founding artists: GANKY, gexex, Xoxometagirl, and cc2k all have a shared affinity for video game sounds, heavy subwoofer bass, and underground culture.
Together, we’ve spent countless hours in home studio setups accumulating songs not sure of how or when to release them. In the summer of 2022, RRRRRecords was created to distribute our music as a collective.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
With any experimental project, there is a fear of how the public eye will receive it but we feel lucky to have gained a small cult-like following of those interested in our visual and musical style.
Going into this, we wanted a distinct aesthetic that reflects in our music, promotion and shows — with the focus being on each element adding to the bigger picture of our universe. It’s a core belief of ours to have confidence in your abilities as an artist because creative people have a tendency to self-doubt.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
We make music that fuses underground styles of hyper-trap, sigilkore, plug, and hip-hop to create our own unique universe but is not bound to any one genre. A blend of kick-ass beats, lyrics, and sonic textures paired with unique visuals is what we specialize in.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
We are each other’s mentors. In our experience, we have relied solely on each other for creative guidance.
The art becomes much more powerful when everyone in the room is someone you trust. We think of it as you never have to leave the house when it’s all in-house.
