Rising Stars: Meet Ryan Simpson of Utah

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ryan Simpson.

Ryan, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
In September 2024, I underwent a heart transplant, which was a life-changing experience. As I recovered, I was eager to return to work, but I needed something that would allow flexibility for ongoing medical appointments and follow-up care.
I had prior experience in locksmithing and already owned some tools, so I saw an opportunity to build something of my own. In July 2025, I founded Cache Lock & Key, offering residential, automotive, and light commercial locksmith services throughout the area.
To strengthen my capabilities—especially on the automotive side—I invested in additional training and advanced programming equipment. Since launching, the business has grown steadily, and we’ve built a strong reputation in the community as a 5-star rated business on Google, known for fast, reliable, and professional service.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
For the most part, the journey has been smooth, but like any new business, there have been challenges along the way. One of the biggest learning curves was building out the right inventory for automotive locksmith work—figuring out which keys, remotes, and parts to stock, and in what quantities.

It took time and experience to understand local demand and ensure I had the right products on hand to serve customers efficiently. As the business has grown, that process has become much more refined, allowing me to provide faster and more reliable service.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
At Cache Lock & Key, we provide a full range of locksmith services, including residential, automotive, and light commercial work. Over time, I’ve developed a strong focus on automotive locksmithing—specifically car key replacement, key fob and proximity key programming, and advanced diagnostic work for modern vehicle security systems.
What I’m most proud of is how far I’ve come in the automotive side of the trade. It’s a highly technical field that requires ongoing training and the ability to adapt to constantly evolving vehicle technology. I’ve invested significant time into professional training and continue to expand my knowledge to stay current with the latest systems.
What sets us apart is our commitment to doing the job right with the proper tools and expertise. We utilize some of the industry’s top programming equipment, allowing us to handle a wide range of vehicles efficiently—often at a level comparable to dealership service, but with the convenience of a fully mobile operation. In addition, being trained and certified in the field gives customers confidence that they’re working with a qualified professional.
We’ve also built a strong reputation in the community as a 5-star rated Google business, known for fast response times, reliability, and honest service. That combination of technical capability and customer-first service is what truly sets us apart.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
What I like most about our city is the strong sense of community. People here are supportive, friendly, and genuinely look out for one another. As a local business owner, that makes a big difference—you build real relationships with your customers, not just one-time transactions. I also appreciate the growth in the area. There’s a lot of opportunity, and it’s exciting to be part of a community that’s expanding and evolving.

What I like least is the traffic. As the area continues to grow, congestion has definitely increased, which can be challenging—especially running a mobile service business where getting to customers quickly is a top priority.
