Today we’d like to introduce you to Sadie Lawrence.
Sadie, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I have always been interested in photography, you know the Tumblr type of photography, or “photoshoots” with your friends at a nearby park. What really got me interested in professional photography was one of my college roommates had a DSLR camera and we took roomie photos together and I FELL in love.
I decided I would buy a camera the next semester (Aug. 2017) and take a class to learn how to use it. Somehow, the word got out that I started perusing photography and someone asked me to take their newborn photos! I was shocked because those are very important life moments and I was seriously SO new. But I did it, and then it snowballed from there!
I quickly became interested in wedding photography and made it a goal to get at least one wedding the next year, and then 1 wedding became 5, and then 5 became 10, and so on! Now, I have successfully photographed over 100 weddings since making that goal! I am incredibly blessed and honored that my clients chose me to photograph some of the most important moments in their lives.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road has absolutely not been smooth, I remember at the very being so insecure about my work and feeling very defensive if anyone gave me criticism. I worked so hard on perfecting my craft and practicing like crazy to really get to where I am today.
Now, I know how to shoot in different lighting situations with confidence and ease, whereas before I was a guessing mess lol! Being confident and proud of the work that I have produced has been a game-changer!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a wedding photographer based in UT but ready to travel whenever and wherever! My mission is to deliver photos that take you back to the moment they were taken. Capturing the real and raw emotion from wedding days, so my clients can look back at their special day with nothing but happy memories.
I am most proud of a shoot that was shot during a flash flood, it turned out so beautiful. I honestly thought I would have to reshoot it! I was featured on Dirty Boots and Messy Hair and a ton of other feature accounts. It was wild!
What sets me apart from other wedding photographers is my relationship with my couple. By the time their wedding day comes, we know each other like best friends and they feel confident to pose in front of the camera without hesitation. Our communication is open and they trust me to capture every moment perfectly!
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
I always say invest in yourself! Styled shoots were the number one way that helps me become confident behind the camera and posing my couples. It is basically setting up perfect lighting and a perfectly staged moment so you can focus on your personal skills.
Which in turn perfects your real wedding photography! You get to be creative and your portfolio is out of this world!
