Today we’d like to introduce you to Sam Selby.
Hi Sam, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
It all started with storytelling. I love acting and performing because of the story it can tell. The arts lead me to photography, and I immediately fell in love with it. I could capture someone’s story and freeze that moment in time for people and I knew this was something I had to do. I have been doing photography for a year and a half now and am so excited to grow and meet new people, hear their stories, and capture those precious moments.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has definitely not been an easy path. I started to get some traction and then I moved here to Orem, Utah. So, you can imagine that in a new area is hard to start a business where I need to know people. But I am stoked to meet everyone and help wherever I can.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a freelance photographer specializing in product photography, and family photography. The family includes weddings, family portraits, as well as individual portraits. I am most proud of my family I see them following their dreams and passions and it has inspired me so much to keep moving forward.
My personality sets me apart from others; I am bubbly and fun to be around, I share in others’ excitement, I’m very positive and I love to be artistic with the way I take pictures through my editing but also how I frame pictures and shape lighting.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I think that risks are a part of everyday life, and you have to take risks to move forward in life. I think there is a balance in risk. You have to know what risks to take and when. Sometimes too many risks will end badly.
