Rising Stars: Meet Sheena Rose of Utah

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sheena Rose.

Hi Sheena, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
The Story of The Giving Grinch πŸ’š

The Giving Grinch started with one simple idea… kindness should never be seasonal.

What began as a small effort to help a few families during the holidays quickly grew into something much bigger. We saw a need, not just at Christmas, but all year long and we knew we couldn’t stop there. So we didn’t.

Over the years, The Giving Grinch has grown into a community-driven nonprofit focused on spreading kindness wherever it’s needed most. While we’re widely known for our Christmas outreach serving thousands of seniors & families with wish lists, blankets, and gifts.
we’ve expanded far beyond the holiday season.

Today, we deliver monthly snack and hygiene bags to seniors, host special events like Glam Days to bring joy and connection, and support families and individuals throughout the year. Everything we do is powered by a small but passionate team and an incredible group of volunteers and supporters who believe in what we’re building.

Events like Grinchfest, now known as Utah’s biggest car show, help us fund these efforts while bringing the community together in a fun, meaningful way.

We’re still growing. We’re still learning. And we’re still driven by the same mission we started with~ to show up, give back, and remind people they matter.

Because at the end of the day… it’s not about the Grinch.

It’s about the giving. πŸ’š

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No. It’s been anything but smooth.

Building The Giving Grinch has come with a lot of challenges behind the scenes. From the beginning, we’ve had to figure things out as we go. how to grow, how to fund it, and how to keep showing up for people even when resources feel stretched thin.

One of the biggest struggles has been capacity. We’re a very small core team trying to serve thousands of people, especially seniors, and that means long days, late nights, and constantly relying on volunteers and community support. There are times when the need is bigger than what we can provide, and that’s never easy.

Funding is another ongoing challenge. Everything we do events, outreach, deliveries depends on donations, sponsors, and fundraising. There’s pressure to make every event successful because so many people are counting on it.

We’ve also faced misunderstandings and criticism along the way. When you’re visible in the community and growing quickly, not everyone sees the full picture. That can be tough, especially when your intentions are genuinely to help.

And on a personal level, balancing it all family, work, and running a nonprofit hasn’t always been easy.

But through all of it, the mission has never changed.

The hard days are worth it when you see the impact…. when a senior feels remembered, when a family gets support they didn’t know was coming, when the community comes together for something good.

So no, it hasn’t been smooth… but it’s been worth every step. πŸ’š

What We Do, What We’re Known For & What Sets Us Apart πŸ’š

At The Giving Grinch, our mission is simple spreading kindness…

We specialize in community outreach with a strong focus on seniors and families in need. While many people know us for our large Christmas efforts serving thousands of seniors & families with wish lists, blankets, and gifts!
what really sets us apart is that we don’t stop when the holidays end.

This is year-round for us.

We deliver monthly snack and hygiene bags to seniors, host meaningful events to bring connection and joy, and step in wherever there’s a need in our community. Whether it’s something big or something small, we believe kindness matters in every season.

We’re also known for bringing people together in a big way. Events like Grinchfest, now recognized as one of the biggest car shows in Utah, aren’t just about cars they’re about community, connection, and raising funds to continue the work we do all year long.
Another event is Bingo & Boos it’s about bringing the community together for a fun night all while raising funds for those in need.

What we’re most proud of isn’t just the numbers it’s the impact. It’s the seniors who feel seen and remembered. It’s the families who feel supported. It’s the volunteers who show up again and again because they believe in what we’re building.

What truly sets us apart is that we are a very small, hands-on team doing big work. There’s no big organization behind the scenes it’s heart, hustle, and a community that rallies with us. We’re real, we’re present, and we care deeply about every person we serve.

We don’t just talk about kindness…. we live it. πŸ’š

Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
Going to my grandma’s and grandpas shaw’s house at Christmas.

There was just something about it, the feeling when you walked in, the warmth, the excitement, the magic of it all. It wasn’t about how big the gifts were, it was about how special everything felt. You could feel the love in the room.

Those moments stuck with me. That feeling of being together, being cared for, and the joy of giving and receiving.
it’s something I’ve carried with me into my life today.

Honestly, a lot of what I do now comes from trying to recreate that feeling for others. πŸ’š
