Today we’d like to introduce you to Tania Bizzarro.
Hi Tania, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I have always loved horror movies since I was little, since social media exist I have always had in mind, to create a page dedicated to my passion, in 2017 I created Ore d’orrore a social page dedicated to Italian and international horror and thriller movies, but at a certain point I wanted to get out of social media, creating something new, unique.
Cinema industry is in crisis, genre cinema is in crisis, and that’s why I created an event that could promote, disseminate and reward genre cinema made in Italy.
The Vespertilio Awards , After 4 years and 5 editions, it is a unique reality in the panorama of Italian cinema.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
For the creation of the ore d’orrore everything was born out of passion in a playful way, so we had fun and we found no obstacles, while for the transition to the Vespertilio Awards, the path was beautiful but with many unknowns, due to giving an identity to the prize and making it known to as many people as possible, there were also many difficulties to be able to access state contributions and recognitions from the sector bodies.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am the founder and presenter of the Vespertilio Awards, I am proud to have created the first Italian award dedicated to genre cinema (horror, thriller, noir, fantasy and science fiction).
The tenacity and passion that distinguish me have contributed to making me known and esteemed by all those in the sector.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Meticolosity, patience and passion
