Rising Stars: Meet Tasha Beckstead of Stansbury Park

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tasha Beckstead.

Hi Tasha, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I always love to talk about my business and how we run. I started my employment base salon with the intention of doing things the right way… legally, ethically, and with my professionals at the forefront. I wanted to influence the industry by creating a high-end salon experience with no extra fees, making luxury services the new normal for our clients and community. At the same time, I built a structure where professionals no longer had to struggle in their first few years of joining this amazing industry. My mission was always to raise the standard… for both the client and the stylist. And this is where Portfolio. Modern Hair Salon, Portfolio. Hair Extensions, and The Portfolio. EDU Team became a reality.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Launching the salon was one of the most intense chapters of my life. I had a newborn on my hip, a global pandemic shutting everything down around me, and my business partner/husband deployed for most of the year. It was just me, juggling motherhood, a brand new business, and a vision that felt bigger than my circumstances.

There were days I was answering client messages during 2 a.m. feedings, writing protocols during naptime, and trying to stay grounded while the world felt completely unstable. Every decision carried extra weight… financially, emotionally, and professionally, but I stayed locked into the bigger picture. I wasn’t just opening a salon; I was building something that challenged industry norms and gave stylists the kind of start I wish I had. The pressure was real, but so was the purpose. And that’s what got me through it.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My work is really split between two passions: doing hair, primarily extensions, and mentoring. I specialize in hair extensions, which I love because it’s truly transformative, but what lights me up just as much, is mentoring new stylists and supporting the growth of my current team, helping them build confidence, refine their skills, and reach real financial freedom is what I’m most proud of.

Watching my team grow, personally and professionally, has been the most rewarding part of this journey. We’ve built a culture where everyone supports each other, stays hungry to learn, and constantly pushes to deliver the best experience possible. Our team has truly flourished, and seeing them hit milestones they once thought were out of reach, buying homes, building full books, and hitting income goals, is the definition of success for me.

What sets us apart is that we genuinely care about the whole picture: the professional, the education, and the client experience. We don’t just aim to be a great salon, we aim to set the standard. That means investing in our team’s growth, making sure clients always get above and beyond services, and creating an environment where stylists don’t have to burn out or struggle to make ends meet. It’s a full circle kind of success, and that’s always been the goal.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Most people who know me through my work assume i’ve always had it all figured out.. but the truth is, I was building this business and leading my team while quietly navigating postpartum anxiety, often just trusting my gut and figuring things out as i went. What kept me going was my deep belief in what I was building.

I think people would also be surprised to know that I’m actually very introverted outside of work. I give so much energy to my clients and team, so when I’m off, I recharge by staying home, being with my kids, and enjoying the quiet moments most wouldn’t expect from someone in such a social role. All of it, the behind the scenes struggles, the personal growth, and the quiet parts of me, have shaped me into a more grounded and empathic leader. It’s easy to see the polished brand, but there’s a real human story underneath it all.
