Today we’d like to introduce you to Terrance DH.
Hi Terrance, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I am a singer and songwriter and was a touring musician promoting my music. I had my first child and I didn’t really want to be away for long stretches any longer, so I started learning how to be a recording engineer. I lucked out and started working for a new studio called Counterpoint Studios and stayed with them for 26 years. When the studio decided to close their doors, I was able to get the studio donated to The Utah Arts alliance. The studio continues to thrive to this day.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Technology is constantly changing. It’s tough to stay up on the newest, latest, greatest things. It’s is very financially stressful. Covid 19 also recently threw a curveball at the studio and how we conduct our business.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a record producer, mixing engineer, and singer-songwriter. I guess what sets me apart is I can help an artist from start to finish and even help them perform their music for the recording process if they can’t do it. I’ve recorded and mixed over 100 albums for local and national musicians.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I did two North American tours with Green Day in my band (The Stench) before Green Day became one of the biggest bands in the world.
