Community Highlights: Meet Cary Mac Arthur

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cary Mac Arthur.

Hi Cary, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I have always loved life and have pursued many goals and interests, but until about 10 years ago, I didn’t realize that I had been enjoying the pursuit of these from within my comfort zone. I attended my first personal growth training retreat with my husband, where I was encouraged to face fears and was gently “forced” out of my comfort zone. I entered the process of self-discovery and growth silently, “kicking and screaming” and came out with more enthusiasm for life, more confidence, and a passion for discovering the freedom on “the other side” of fear.

Some of the people who were watching me transform asked if I could coach them. Although it was scary at first, I decided to give it a gray, and I REALLY loved doing it! I learned that I have a natural talent for seeing people and helping them see themselves more clearly.
This spurred me into writing my own coaching modality, obtaining a coaching certificate, obtaining a bachelor’s degree in Spanish and Psychology, a master’s of Marriage and Family Therapy, and now I am working as both a Marriage and Family Therapist and a Healthy+Happy Coach. I am also working toward a Ph.D. in Philosophy with an emphasis in Psychology.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
True to life, there have been many bumps in the road, but my main obstacle has been my own core beliefs and limitations getting in the way. 🙂

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about your work?
Throughout my years of life experience and education, I have developed a passion for helping people discover who they are from the inside out– to understand and value what they uniquely have to offer–and then help them work within their strengths to make the healthy changes they are looking for in their lives.

When I have the opportunity to help a client find that special something that makes them unique and that helps them know that they matter—that they’re NOT broken—it creates the foundation for WHOLE Health.

I believe that the single most transformative element in an individual’s life is the ability to truly understand who they are and why they think, feel, and act the way they do.

In order to do this, I utilize a unique personality profiling system called C.O.R.E. that I believe is second to none in helping people become healthier versions of themselves so that they can become happier in their lives and relationships.

A person’s happiness is completely enmeshed with their overall ability to be a HEALTHY version of themselves—mentally, physically, emotionally, relationally, and spiritually.

With an understanding that individuals are naturally and beautifully different, I draw on various therapeutic approaches and philosophies to best meet the needs of the individual. These approaches include:

Emotion-Focused, cognitive behavioral, positive, solution-focused, person-centered, personality profiling, universal laws, faith-based (including spirituality and mindfulness. I personally come from a Christian background)

My desire and ability to see people as they really are and to help them feel seen, safe, and understood nurtures an environment where vulnerability becomes a strength, not a perceived weakness. These natural skills have been cultivated and refined by my education, my work as a life coach and therapist, and life experience.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
People aren’t broken. The only effective way to really become healthy and happy in your life and relationships is to embrace who you are. Only then can you make the changes that will help you be a healthier version of yourself— and
