Conversations with Ashley Nilson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Nilson.

Hi Ashley, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
We decided we wanted to start a family business and with four younger daughters and an older son on a mission we felt this was a manageable time to be able to incorporate this new business into our lives. We sat down with our four girls and asked each of them to help contribute and be apart of it and they all have done so much to help us grow.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Some of the struggles have been in the construction phase of hidden gem where certain chairs or design choices didn’t work for our spacing and even now we have run into simple ordering challenges that have pushed back our opening date but we have definitely adapted and adjusted the best we could. Our new mantra has been adapted and adjusted rather than freak out.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We felt strongly that with our younger girls enjoying the beauty industry so much we wanted to allow them to be apart of that and experience what it’s like from the ground up.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
As a family we have been so blessed with 5 beautiful children who each have their own personal challenges and obstacles and this business has allowed us to work together as a family and draw closer as we work towards building a successful salon. We felt the time was right in our lives and we made the leap into owning and small business.
