Today we’d like to introduce you to Paul Cardall.
Hi Paul, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
I came into this world with a complex form of congenital heart disease. I only had a single functioning ventricle and underwent open-heart surgery less than a day old. I would end up having two more major surgeries at age 13 and 14. Facing difficult things as a child has me thinking about mortality and what it is all for.
After a friend died in high school, I was led to the piano in my parent’s home where I sat down and discovered a gift of music. I could express my emotions and process life by playing. That gift became a talent as I worked and worked to create song after song until I had the confidence to share music with people. I began playing in restaurants and nice hotels.
Eventually, I signed a record deal with Virgin Records and within two years had my own label which I’d go on to spend two decades building with peaceful, instrumental music. I signed artists and we released dozens of Billboard charting albums. With more than 2.5 billion streams in over 160 countries, I would then sell the catalog to Anthem Entertainment. During this time I underwent a heart transplant.
Life’s challenges fueled action to help us feel the beauty of this world through music. Today, I started another record label called All Heart Publishing.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
