Exploring Life & Business with Shane Fitzpatrick of Shane’s Structures

Today we’d like to introduce you to Shane Fitzpatrick.

Hi Shane, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My name is Shane Thomas Fitzpatrick. I was born in New York in 1994 and moved to Arizona with my family in 1996, where I grew up in Gilbert. From a young age, hockey was my life. I played competitively year-round, and my entire focus was on becoming a professional hockey player. After high school, I moved to Canada to play junior hockey, and for a time, that dream felt very real. I was competitive, driven, and had scouts watching me for college hockey and even professional opportunities overseas.

Unfortunately, toward the end of my junior hockey career, I made some poor life choices. I was around the wrong people, gave in to peer pressure, and ultimately lost the path I had worked so hard to stay on. When hockey ended, I was forced to take a hard look at myself and decide what I truly wanted out of life.

That period of reset led me into the telecommunications industry, where I worked on cell phone towers for nearly nine years. I started at the bottom and worked my way up to foreman and project manager, leading crews and managing complex, high-risk projects. That job taught me discipline, accountability, leadership, and how to perform under pressure. During downtime between tower projects, I began teaching myself construction skills—building sheds, learning electrical and plumbing basics, and taking on remodeling projects. That’s when the idea of owning my own construction company stopped being a dream and started feeling attainable.

I realized that the owners of the companies I worked for were just regular people who took a leap of faith and committed themselves fully. I knew I could do the same. I had always wanted to build something of my own—something that reflected my values, work ethic, and commitment to quality.

Around this time last year, everything aligned. I had just gotten married, and my wife encouraged me to take the leap. The company I was working for was no longer the right fit, and I already had a steady stream of side jobs. I got my business license, went all in, and Shane’s Structures was born.

In just one year, the company has grown from a one-man operation into a team of nine employees, and we continue to grow rapidly. What started as a leap of faith has turned into one of the top-rated contracting companies in the Ogden area. We’ve built our reputation on quality craftsmanship, honesty, accountability, and genuine care for our clients. My goals for 2025 were exceeded far beyond what I anticipated, and I am confident that we will continue that momentum into the years ahead.

My long-term vision is to build the number one contracting company in Utah within the next five years. We already have a strong foothold in Ogden, and we are committed to expanding while maintaining the same high standards that got us here. At the end of the day, I’m incredibly grateful—for my team, my customers, my community, and the opportunity to serve.

Most importantly, none of this would be possible without my faith. Jesus Christ saved me from a very dark place in my life, and I owe everything I have to Him. My goal moving forward is not only to build a successful company, but to give back, lead with integrity, and serve others through my work.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Overall, I would say the road has been relatively smooth—not perfect, but very rewarding. We’ve been fortunate to work with incredible customers and on some amazing projects. Today, Shane’s Structures holds a 5.0 rating on Google with 118 five-star reviews, along with a 100% recommendation rate on Facebook, which speaks volumes about the trust our clients place in us.

Like any growing company, we’ve had a few challenging situations and a small number of customers who were difficult to work with. However, our approach has always been the same: if something goes wrong, we make it right—every single time. Accountability and integrity are core values of our company.

As we’ve grown, we’ve invested heavily in refining our systems, processes, and quality-control standards. Those improvements have allowed us to drastically reduce callbacks and deliver a more consistent, high-quality experience across every project. Our goal is not just to be good, but to be a trusted, high-quality contracting company in our area.

We’re committed to continuous improvement—getting one percent better every day—and maintaining the standards that have earned us our reputation. That mindset is what will continue to set Shane’s Structures apart as we grow.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Shane’s Structures ?
Shane’s Structures is a full-service general contracting company and one of the top-rated contractors in the Ogden and Northern Utah area. We’ve built our reputation on quality craftsmanship, clear communication, and doing the right thing—even when no one is watching. With a 5.0 Google rating and over 118 five-star reviews, along with a 100% recommendation rate on Facebook, we’re proud to be a company our community genuinely trusts.

We specialize in custom sheds, decks, and basement finish remodels, along with a wide range of interior and exterior construction services. Our shed and deck builds are known for their durability, clean design, and attention to detail, and our basement finish remodels focus on creating functional, high-quality living spaces that add real value to homes. In addition, we work hand-in-hand with restoration and mitigation companies throughout the area, helping homeowners get their properties back to pre-loss condition after floods, fires, or other disasters. That type of work requires precision, efficiency, and strong coordination—and it’s an area where our systems truly shine.

What sets Shane’s Structures apart is our process and our people. We don’t operate like a typical “show up and figure it out” contractor. Every project is backed by structured planning, clear scopes of work, documented jobsite standards, and consistent communication from start to finish. Our crews are trained to uphold high standards of professionalism, cleanliness, and accountability, because we understand that we’re not just building structures—we’re working in people’s homes.

Brand-wise, what I’m most proud of is the trust we’ve earned. Our customers know that if something ever goes wrong, we will make it right. That commitment, paired with our drive to get one percent better every day, has allowed us to grow quickly without sacrificing quality. We’ve built a brand centered on integrity, reliability, and long-term relationships, not shortcuts or quick wins.

What I want readers to know is that Shane’s Structures isn’t just another contracting company. We’re a team that takes pride in our work, stands behind what we build, and truly cares about the people we serve. Whether it’s a custom deck, a shed, a full basement remodel, or restoring a home after a disaster, our goal is always the same: deliver exceptional quality, exceed expectations, and leave every customer confident they chose the right contractor.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Something people might not know about me is that my faith plays a major role in how I lead and make decisions. I don’t just see Shane’s Structures as a business, but as a way to serve others, provide opportunity, and do work with integrity. Everything we’ve built is grounded in that foundation.
Also, Something people are often surprised to learn about me is that I never planned to work in construction. My original goal was to play professional hockey, and I genuinely believed that would be my lifelong career. Losing that path was one of the hardest moments of my life, but it forced me to grow, reset, and ultimately build something even more meaningful. Shane’s Structures exists today because of that pivot—and I wouldn’t change the journey for anything.
