Hidden Gems: Meet Brianne Taggart of Breezy Babies Lactation

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brianne Taggart.

Hi Brianne, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey into this work started the way many great ones do — as a mom. Breastfeeding my own babies lit a spark in me that changed everything. That spark led me to becoming an IBCLC Lactation Consultant while working in a local hospital as a Registered Nurse.

In 2020, my world flipped upside down. I was part of a lactation group that suddenly fell apart, and I found myself standing at a terrifying crossroads: go back to a stable hospital job… or take a wild leap and start my own private practice in the middle of a global pandemic. (No pressure, right?)

That summer, Breezy Babies was born. At first, it was just me — quietly serving families, rebuilding trust, and honestly swearing I’d never trust anyone in business again. For two full years, I worked solo, keeping my head down and my heart guarded.

Then Lex came along. She asked to join my team, and even though it scared me, I said yes — and it changed everything. Suddenly, I wasn’t alone. I had someone to brainstorm with, talk through hard cases with, and care for families when I couldn’t be there. Private practice can be incredibly lonely, and I didn’t realize how much I needed that until I had it. That season healed me in ways I didn’t expect.

Fast forward to now, and I sometimes have to pinch myself. What started as one overwhelmed mom with a laptop has grown into a team of 19 IBCLCs, 25 mentees, two assistants, a biller, and my amazing husband as our accountant — and we’re still growing, with five more IBCLCs currently onboarding. We now support families all across Utah and also from coast to coast, including telehealth.

I never dreamed of being an entrepreneur. I’m not your “typical” businesswoman — but somehow, I’ve built one of the largest private lactation practices in the country.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Has it been a smooth road? Not even close — and honestly, every day brings up new challenges.

The hardest part in the beginning was rebuilding trust after my first group fell apart. Starting a business in the middle of a global pandemic was overwhelming, and for a while it felt like I was just trying to survive and figure things out as I went. I wore all the hats — clinician, scheduler, biller, marketer, cleaner — and it was exhausting and isolating.

Growing the team brought a whole new set of challenges. Learning how to trust again, how to lead people well, how to set healthy boundaries, and how to create systems so I wasn’t doing everything myself was a steep learning curve. I also had to get comfortable with the fact that not everyone will understand your vision, and not every decision will be popular.

There were moments I wanted to quit — moments where it felt easier to go back to the “safe” option. But each challenge forced me to grow, to get clearer on my purpose, and to build something stronger and more sustainable.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At the heart of our business is one simple belief: families deserve real, personalized support — right where they are. We specialize in in-home lactation care, and that truly is our secret sauce. Instead of asking exhausted, newly postpartum parents to pack up their baby and drive to an office, we come to them. We sit on their couches, watch real feedings in real life, and support them in the space where they actually live and learn.

We proudly serve families throughout Utah with local, in-person support, and we also offer virtual care from coast to coast — from the East Coast to the West Coast. One thing that truly sets us apart is our commitment to accessibility. We work hard to be in-network with major insurance providers, which means most of our families can receive covered visits instead of worrying about large out-of-pocket costs.

Our team is another huge part of what makes us different. Every one of our consultants is a mom first. We lead with empathy, lived experience, and a deep respect for each family’s unique journey. We’re highly collaborative — not competitive — and that spirit shows up in everything we do. We talk through cases together, support one another, and celebrate wins as a team.

We’re also deeply proud of our mentorship program. We welcome and train aspiring IBCLCs from all over the U.S., even when others have turned them away out of fear of “training the competition.” We believe more support for families is never a threat — it’s the goal.

Our care is holistic and family-led. We listen closely, follow each parent’s instincts, and work proactively. In fact, one of the things we’re best known for is meeting with families before baby arrives — helping them prepare for breastfeeding so they feel calm, confident, and supported from day one, all the way through weaning.

What we want readers to know is this: we’re not just teaching feeding. We’re building confidence, creating community, and walking alongside families during one of the most vulnerable and powerful seasons of their lives. And we’re incredibly proud of the way we do it — with warmth, integrity, and heart.

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
If there’s one thing I’d love readers to know, it’s this: you’re not meant to figure feeding out alone.

Whether you’re pregnant, newly postpartum, or months into your journey, it’s okay to ask for help early. In fact, support doesn’t mean something is “wrong” — it often means you’re doing something really right by preparing and advocating for yourself.

My other hope is that families trust their instincts. You know your baby better than anyone. Our role — and my heart behind this work — is never to take control, but to walk alongside you, cheer you on, and help make things feel a little less overwhelming.

And if you’re a parent reading this who feels like they’re struggling more than they expected, you’re not failing. You’re learning. You’re growing. And you’re doing a really beautiful job.
