Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordan Bracken.
Hi Jordan, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I first got into the outdoor industry by working at the outdoor recreation center at the college. I then worked at another local bike shop for a short time before joining Rapid Cycling. Rapid Cycling opened in 2013 and I actually started as a race director. A couple of years later, I became the shop manager and then in 2021, my wife and I purchased Rapid Cycling from the original owners. I have a degree in communication and recreation management. During my years as the shop manager, I had hoped to one-day takeover, and the original owners were awesome enough to work with me to make that dream come true.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
In the beginning, there were growing pains. The shop grew fast and moved to a bigger building to better accommodate the growth. Then in 2020, the bike industry boom was an unexpected but pleasant surprise. Eventually, this caused a supply shortage but I think every shop during that time was doing their best to get what they could when they could. Then, of course, the challenges of becoming the owner and taking on new responsibilities. Overall the life of Rapid Cycling has been a wild but fun ride!
We’ve been impressed with Rapid Cycling, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We are a full-service bike shop in beautiful St George, Utah. The area is known for world-class mountain and gravel biking. Southern Utah also hosts the Ironman World Championships and Redbull Rampage.
Rapid Cycling offers a full range of unique brands to fit a wide range of budgets and riding styles. We carry Giant, Liv, Momentum, Yeti, Scott, Pivot, Kona, Open, Sunday, and more! We have an incredible service department that will take care of everything from on-the-spot flat repairs to tune ups and overhauls. We also have a full range of rental bikes and equipment! We love helping people explore the area.
Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned athlete, we welcome everyone at Rapid Cycling. We strive to be a gathering place for all bike lovers and offer an engaging and supportive community. There are many exciting changes on the horizon and we are constantly looking for new ways to expand and innovate.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up, I was always interested in the outdoors. Camping trips with scouts, hunting with my grandpa, and skateboarding in my teen years. I liked being friends with everyone and trying new things. I went to a lot of concerts. I also met my wife in high school and she would want me to tell you I wore skinny jeans and had long hair.
