Meet Marley Wright of Park City

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marley Wright

Hi Marley, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My journey as an artist began early in life. My babysitter, an artist herself, introduced me to drawing, and it quickly became one of my favorite activities. I can still pinpoint the moment when art truly captured my heart: Christmas of 2004. That year, I received an acrylic paint set, and I was so excited that I stayed up until midnight, using every single canvas in the box. From that night on, art became the heartbeat of my life.

Today, I’m balancing my passion for art with my role as a massage therapist in Park City, where I’m also steadily building a freelance career. I actively participate in local events and am proud to be an artist with CreatePC. Beyond traditional artwork, I’m expanding into surface design and illustration, developing a digital portfolio to license my work. It’s a slow and rewarding build, and I’m enjoying the challenge of learning more about the art industry—both locally and nationally.

Some of my most exciting recent projects include illustrating Deer Valley’s Patrol Dogs for their ski school and painting Johnnie Walker statues that will be showcased in Park City this winter.

This journey has been full of growth, creativity, and connection, and I can’t wait to see where it leads next.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
With any skill, challenges are inevitable. Growth and learning can be difficult, life gets busy, and my list of projects always seems to outpace the time available. There have been moments when I felt stuck—like I wasn’t progressing or learning at all. But over time, I’ve come to see failures and setbacks as opportunities: a chance to learn, to improve, and to keep practicing. Progress has been slow—sometimes very slow—but each step forward brings new opportunities and momentum. I’m excited to see where this journey takes me next.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
When I paint, I typically work in oils. I love the way they flow and the richness of their color saturation—it allows me to refine my work at a pace that feels natural and intentional.

My subject matter is deeply inspired by the place I call home and the wildlife that surrounds me. Conservation has always been a passion of mine, and I strive to create art that connects people to the beauty of the natural world.

Looking back on my progress over the past few years as I’ve been building my business, I’m most proud of the steps I’ve taken to become a part of the art community—and, perhaps most importantly, my determination to keep going, even when things get hard. I believe this persistence and dedication to steadily chip away at my dream is what sets me apart.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I feel incredibly lucky for so much in my life—an amazing husband, supportive friends, my dog, and the beautiful place I get to call home. I’m also fortunate to have a job at The Spa at Stein Eriksen that not only supports me but also allows me the time and flexibility to pursue my passion for art.

That said, I believe luck isn’t just something that happens to us—it’s something we can help create. I’ve learned that opportunities rarely fall into our laps; we have to go out and look for them. Whenever I see an opening, I take it. I put myself—and my art—out there, even when it feels vulnerable or uncertain. By showing up and positioning myself in the path of opportunity, I’ve created much of the “luck” I’ve been fortunate to receive. It’s about being ready, being visible, and being willing to say yes.
