The heart of our mission is to find the amazing souls that breathe life into our communities. In the recent weeks, we’ve had the privilege to connect with some incredible artists, creatives, entrepreneurs and rabble rousers and we can’t begin to express how impressed we are with the incredible group below. Check out our favorite stories from across the Voyage family.

Art always felt really serious to me, even at such a young age. Which is why it was incredibly disappointing to me in middle and school and high school that everyone treated art as a lame activity that garnered no respect, while athletes and straight A students were constantly celebrated. I felt like I was the “only” artist in my school, and remember, this was pre-internet! There were no opportunities for me to connect with other artists who were like minded. I took classes at the Museum of Fine Arts on the weekends, but they still didn’t completely fulfill my desires as an artist. Read more>>

Honestly, being a small business owner isn’t easy. You wear all the hats—social media manager, accountant, tax preparer, cleaning crew, marketing director, purchaser, website manager—and, of course, the esthetician. Finding your ideal clientele takes time, and in today’s economy, that can feel even more challenging. If I had to pay rent for a commercial space, I’m not sure I’d still be open. Having my own space and the ability to be patient has been key to keeping my business going. Read more>>

That realization led me to coaching and, eventually, to personal styling. At first, those seemed like separate worlds, but I quickly found that combining personal development coaching with style education allowed my clients to reconnect with themselves and develop true, lasting confidence, inside and out. Read more>>

I got started from listening to artists like NF, Logic, Kendrick Lamar and even OGs like Ice Cube and Snoop Dogg. I was very drawn to writing lyrics and putting my emotions down onto the pad from a very young age. I had all these little composition notebooks I’d write my rhymes in for the longest time because I never had a smart phone to do so. I’d even use my mp3 player to listen to instrumentals that I’d downloaded off the internet (Legally I should add lmao). Though, it really feels like I’m just now stepping into this industry and seeing all the sides of it. I gotta say I’m excited as hell to see where it takes me and my team because I just want to create something that the fans will love, and my bank account will appreciate. Read more>>

I’m proficient in both jazz and classical both as a solo player, a section player, or even a lead or principal player in ensembles. Teaching-wise I’m the same way, from sit down concert band to jazz band to marching band, both visually and musically, I like to think I can cover all bases. In the big band realm, I direct The Odyssey Big Band, a top tier band in the state of Utah. We perform classic swing tunes, plenty of cruiner standards (think Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Dean Martin), we also explore some more modern literature while maintaining that traditional big band sound. Read more>>

There were times when supply costs unexpectedly spiked—materials, printing, everything seemed to rise all at once. It was a real challenge to keep my products affordable while trying to stay on top of pricing. It’s tough when you pour so much energy into creating and marketing your art, only to see little return. On top of that, selling through various marketplaces had its own set of ups and downs. Some of them shut down overnight, leaving me a month of unpaid for products I’d already shipped. That hit me hard, both financially and emotionally. Read more>>

After completing college. I got a job with a general contractor in their designed apartment designing residential and commercial dwellings. After about a year, I realized the amount of money and earning Potential was not enough. I asked if there was another position I could work towards and they gave me a shot as a superintendent overseeing subcontractors that did the work after about another year, they saw my potential and put me ahead of all of the production. Two years in I became in charge of the operations and production for all of the development and overseeing all of the construction projects we were doing at the peak. We did $33 million in revenue. Read more>>

I’m a fantasy author. I have a contemporary fantasy out called The Abandoned Realm. It’s a standalone, about an Elven warrior who gets pulled from her world and dropped in the Abandoned Realm when her author stops writing the story. When a portal is opened to the real world, she and her author have to try to work together to reverse the damage and save the city from angry, discarded characters. It’s fast-paced, high stakes, action-packed, with a sprinkle of romance. Read more>>

I balanced working weddings while finishing my degree in graphic design, and after graduating in 2019, I landed a corporate design job. Photography quietly slipped into the background—until the pandemic hit and flipped everything upside down. I thought my dream of traveling the world, camera in hand, was over. But when I saw an opportunity to work for an airline, I jumped at it. Suddenly, doors opened. I started building my photography brand again, shooting love stories in places like St. Thomas, Italy, Hawaii, and Utah. Read more>>
